Wonder if they'll let it stay up on Spotify.

Can they make money off it? If so, then yes, I'm sure it will stay up on spotify.

Agreed. I may have opinions about Ed (and the others, for that matter) but it never made me less of a fan when they parted ways. I am optimistic about new music and a tour even if I still have lingering questions or even some doubts.

Yep same here. rockin.gif

QUOTE(Hoodstock @ Dec 14 2016, 3:45 am) *

Man, if you guys dated a girl for twenty years, had a falling out and banged another girl for a while, and then got back together with your original girl you all wouldn't be talking up that break up period like it was the best thing ever. You would appreciate it for what it was, keep your mouth shut about it, and move on with your life.

Thats The Turn. It was fun and hopefully they become a better band because of it.

It's not the same as TGF. They threw Live's name on that album. Obviously it got Ed's attention and they worked it out.

If people here aren't excited for new music from CCP because Ed is attached to it I'm sorry for you. They are still the same musicians who put out TGF and The Turn.

apples and oranges.

I personally think that Shinn handled the whole Ed thing with open resentment when interviewed during his tenure. He never showed respect to Ed as the original lead singer, and I think it cost him fans.

Shinn Quotes:

-The records that came after Distance are really cheesy to me – the band sounds like they’re asleep at the wheel; which they were, admittedly. I wanted to bring back the mysticism and the edge; and we channelled that into how we were playing.

-I have a bit of a higher range than Ed does, so I can add certain aspects that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

-but I’d never dare ask for a lead singer bonus! What horseshit! [Laughs]

Chris took 3 public shots at Ed, in one interview. Ed took zero public shots at Chris throughout his entire run with Live.

Your first quote is about the band Live, not just Ed.

Your second quote is nothing but a fact.

So you have one instance where Shinn said something about Ed. EDIT: Where he laughs, so it is possible he was making a joke. OH NO, A JOKE!!!!

How many instances and references (in songs as well) does Ed take a shot at Live, which included Shinn, and CCP?

Here is the full quote. Context matters. It wasn't an insult to Ed. It was Shinn saying he could add things to classic songs that weren't originally there and that could, in a way, make them his own. He goes on to say some songs you just don't do that on because they are more for the crowd.

MF: When it comes to playing those old songs, have you ever felt compelled to perform them in your own style? Does it ever feel like karaoke, for lack of a better term, when you’re singing one of those big hits?

CS: Look, sometimes I might try and do bits here and there; but when I was starting out I was doing my best to adhere to the script. I have a bit of a higher range than Ed does, so I can add certain aspects that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

For the most part, though, I’ve got no ego in this. That’s especially the case when it comes to songs like Lightning Crashes – y’know, songs like that really do belong to the crowd. It’s their moment. They take a life of their own. It’d just be silly to pose as if it was your own. All we’re doing is representing it. You’ll see when we get down there.

Oh come on.

The first quote is merely an opinion. It's not because he doesn't like post TDTH (and by the way CCP seemed to agree with him on those points if you read different interviews from the Turn era) that's he's being mean to anyone.

I don't see anything mean in the second quote.

The third quote is completely out of context.

QUOTE
MF: One last thing: One of the funniest stories about Live is that Ed Kowalcyzk once demanded $100,000 on top of the band’s appearance fee as a “lead singer bonus” for a festival show. If you could charge a “lead singer bonus” of any amount, how much would you be after?

CS: [Laughs] Oh, man… first off, I have to tell you that what you’ve read is entirely true. It’s absolutely absurd. It’s just sad – what you should take from that story is the state of where the band was. For anyone to try and pull a stunt like that is desperate and shitty. I mean, we have our own little in-jokes in the band or whatever, but I’d never dare ask for a lead singer bonus! What horseshit! [Laughs]

MF: Even if you could get away with it? Say they never found out…
CS: Man, I’d just be happy with a few extra beers backstage!

No lack of respect or resentment here. He was asked a question and answered it. If Ed did ask for such a thing, it is horseshit.

More context. The interviewer asked him about it. He confirmed it, said it was not cool, said he wouldn't do it, and moved on. You frame these quotes like Shinn went out of his way to bash Ed.

Oh no Nick!! You too must be better than that. This comes from people who are happy the board is alive and all excited for what's coming but then you spread shit like that??

Others put that in context so I won't do it again.

And Ed treating CCCP as a karaoke band? How is THAT ok?

I can be convinced that this reunion COULD be good, but not because Shinn is (was) bad. At least spin it as a "We talked together and we forgave each other".

An example of Shinn and his "open resentment" and losing fans. This is from the same interview that your out of context quotes came from.

MF: How have you found the response from fans since stepping in to replace Ed? Was there any sour grapes when you first started out?

CS: You’d be amazed. The percentage of people who have embraced it as opposed to the people who were naysayers… the latter is miniscule in comparison. My deal when we got out on the road was just to do my thing. In my eyes, I wanted to bring back the Live that I loved from the first four records. We don’t do anything after The Distance to Here except from the record that we made.

The records that came after Distance are really cheesy to me – the band sounds like they’re asleep at the wheel; which they were, admittedly. I wanted to bring back the mysticism and the edge; and we channelled that into how we were playing.

Here’s a story for you… it’s from the second night I ever played with Live. We were in Austin, Texas. This woman came up to me after the show, and she looked me dead in the eye and said to me “I came here tonight for one reason – and that reason was to hate you.” [Laughs] I was just like, “Okay!” She continued: “…but after the show I saw tonight, I wanted to let you know that I was wrong and I feel completely terrible about it. I’m on board.” I thought it was really sweet! She had every right to feel that way, y’know… “Who the hell is this guy,” y’know.

But people have to see us now. They have to hear it. Once they do, they’ll see the old Live. The band is playing like they mean it, and we’re going out every night and knocking your teeth in. [Laughs]

IMHO, when you put it in context, it makes CS look more like a DB. I don't know him personally, he could be a great guy, so I'm only taking away from what I read.

He's on tour performing songs that Ed wrote, songs that mean a lot to Ed, you would think he'd show more respect for the guy. He could've taken the high road, said something along the lines of "I can't comment on that as I wasn't with the band at the time" but instead he chose to make Ed look like a terrible guy.. "For anyone to try and pull a stunt like that is desperate and shitty."

Just my 2 cents..
