Good idea about sending to radio stations.

I'd be sending one to John Price at KMXP, but I've had bad experiences with program directors before, so I'm holding out for a few hours.

I'd love to hear this version on the radio myself.

i really doubt they'll need much help getting this version heard, but sure, why not.

Nice. So, is this going to be released as a single, or maybe as an add-on to a future Mystery single release?

It sounds great! I hope it does get radio play. Anything that draws attention to Live is a good thing.

Does anyone know what the story is? I heard the duet is already getting airplay on KYSR in LA. However, I called PLJ and they said it hasn't been released as a single yet. Does anyone know if/when this song will get released? Edstipe, what did your sony guy say? I know Chris is signed to RCA records, maybe there is red tape preventing this song from being released.

This is a total hit, it needs to get out there.

From what I have heard, it has already been sent out to radio stations as a single. Maybe the people at PLJ just haven't received it yet. I'll try to check again with my friend at Sony today to see if he can give me any updates.

Chris fans are going nuts over this but have recieved the same response from radio stations about it not being released as a single yet. Maybe some of them are just now getting it. Let me know if it is and I will spread it around to all the Chris boards. We are so excited about this duet and think it is totally awesome of Ed and Live to include Chris. We're ready to call and download...whatever it takes to get it on the radio. Live and Chris fans unite!

I like it, but is it so diferent from the original..so it make a hit this time.
I mean they have kind of similar voices, so if you don't know is a duet you probaly wont notice.

Wow!

TV doesn't justify how good Chris really is. I love this version.

I agree that Chris comes across so much better in this take in comparison to the performance on the Idol finale. However, that might be also due to the fact that there was very little practice time with Chris and the band. His reaction at the end shows how totally tense he was about doing it. Not only likely because he was so in awe of working with Ed, HIS idol, and Live, but because he was probably thinking to himself, "I can't screw this up. Sure wish we could have worked it out together a little more before the show."

On the show not showing how good Chris is. If you watch just that one performance, no. If, you watched the entire season, you'd have seen a lot of that come through. There were a couple of the guest performers/coaches who said that Chris had one of the better, if not the best, voices on the show for that season. Most of his performances, including the "I Walk The Line" one, showed he has a lot of young, raw talent that does come across in this latest recording of Mystery.

I like the tune on the cd, but this one definitely is a real winner. Chad's post saying that Chris kicked rear on the recording and that Ed was right on is true. Definitely a radio hit if it gets pushed out there. Hopeful there will be a video, too.

Good for Live and Chris. Not for me. I have a hard enough time getting tickets to their shows!

Excellent. I love this version, and, if promoted properly, it can only lead to good things for the band. Hooking up with AI/Chris could prove to be the difference between BOP numbers and a gold record.

Chris has the Metal Milita behind him with Operation Outlast Outsell. We're on a MISSION to make sure Chris has as much airplay as possible. To the extent that an internet radio station now has over 400,000 hits a month.... sometimes over 40,000 per show. She's now been approached about streaming her feed over a large station's airwaves in Chicago. I'll keep you guys posted. We play I Alone a whole lot too cause that is one of Chris's favorites. ANYWAY... my point is..... this is going to be heard, and LIVE is going to skyrocket back to their rightful place at the top of the charts. yahoo.gif

Does anyone know if they had a new producer helping them record this version?
Whoever produced this should definitely work with Live in the future. This is so far superior than the album version. Everything that was wrong with the original album version was tweaked to perfection, and here we have the perfect single. Everything from Ed's vocals at the beginning of the song ("My ammunitiooooon" instead of the half-hearted "my ammunition") to the clear solos in the bridge, and it just seems to have way more energy.

I honestly think that if "Songs From Black Mountain" would've had a better producer, all the tracks would've been so much more enjoyable.. they're great now but would have been perfect with someone better than Jim Wirt.

EDIT: Another question: How much input does a producer have in the final product of an album? And what exactly is the producer's job? Can't the band do it all themselves?

The Chris and Live duet sounds amazing. I'm new here; I'm a huge Chris fan and I'm a new fan of Live, when Chris entered American Idol I read and heard his favorite band was Live and I decided to check this band out, and this band is awesome. I bought their best of Live album "Awake" and their "Throwing Copper" album, "Selling The Drama" is my second favorite Live song after the Chris duet version of "Mystery". This band rocks.
