Wonder where a return to Live puts Ed's solo material. Presumably at this point he has enough for that EP, if not another album as a whole. Back burner while he figures things out with CCP?

I'd imagine he won't stop solo stuff altogether just because he's back in Live.

Could work out well for both sides, if his solo work satisfies his need to create singer/songwriter stuff where it's all about him, leaving Live material to be primarily collaborative with only sprinkles of Ed centric stuff if it suits.

Maybe some solo songs get reworked into Live song?

Lol, who knows. I would think they might all want to start fresh instead of dragging in bits and bobs CCP were working on with Chris, or Ed put together with the No Noticeable Dropoffs crew.

But ya never know.

My guess is that there will still be an album 3, but after Live does its thing. I actually hope there is an album 3. If it gives Ed an avenue to pour all of his shittiness pop sensibilities into and leave them at the door for Live, sounds good.

I can imagine Live doing their thing for a bit now .. tour, some stuff for MJ and SS, new album ..then go on a break again, that would allow Ed to do some solo work and if Candlebox is doing not much at the time maybe CCP finish off the rest of TGF album 2 (for which they have half the album written). This is probably what they should have been doing as early as 2002/3, but yeah.

I really don't think Ed ever goes solo again, especially while he's in Live. Live would have to be completely through for that to (maybe) happen. I think he focuses all his energy here on out with Live. We all underestimate how much Live means to Ed.

Live's branding means to Ed*

But nah I think he will/should do solo stuff. If it's a way of channelling the need to write that sort of music away from Live it's a good thing. Plus, both sides admitted in the past a big mistake was not giving each other enough space. He probably wouldn't tour as heavily and go all out with it like in the past but I can see it happening when there is Live down time.

Of course. But now they're about to go through the process of touring and recording and all that, so this is more looking ahead. It's not like he's going to take a break and make the album before Live get off the ground again. I think it would definitely be a healthy thing for all involved.

Yeah I'm with Pokey on this one. They've had space and will be coming back into it with wiser perspectives, I imagine. No need to box themselves back in. In this day and age, when they're basically making new material just for the laugh of it, there's no need to be precious about it. Ed can keep doing solo stuff and Live can do Live and if CCP want to bang out some more TGF then that's all good too. Pandora's box is open, the shark has been jumped etc.

Looks like Ed's solo album #3 material will in some way become LIVE material now!

If that were ever to happen, then CCP have officially sold their souls to the devil.

They would loose any tiny bit of credibility they have remaining if they were to go along with this.

I can't see why Ed can't just keep doing his solo stuff on the side. Plenty of others do it. It doesn't hurt Eddie Vedder - he clearly gets a lot of personal satisfaction from his solo endeavours. Mike McCready has had plenty of side projects as well as Jeff Ament with his other bands and side projects.

I can't see CCP continuing on with TGF. They haven't put any commitment into anything that takes a bit of work. Hope they prove me wrong.

Surely with Ed getting his way by erasing Chris and The Turn from history meant that CCP get their way and anything even remotely resembling Ed's solo material is kept far away from Live. If that doesn't happen then lol at Ed having them over barrel. May as well get the plexiglass now. But for as negative as I am about all this, I find it hard to believe new Live material will be as bad as Ed solo or SFBM. It'll be BOP level at worst, surely..
