This is the first time i am reading such interpretation about TDC. I completely disagree. TDC was the best choice as the lead single and it was a hit. TDTH singles were generally ok. Live’s big mistake was not with TDTH singles but with SS’s. Lakini’s Juice was a bad choice as a lead single because it was such a great departure from TC sound. It should be the last single, not the first one. It is like having White Discussion as the lead single instead of Selling the drama. SS’s singles, IMHO, should be: 1. Insomnia, 2. Herospychodreaner, 3. Gas Hed, 4. Ghost of Lakini’s Juice.

I totally disagree. Lakini's Juice was awesome when it came out. That might be their biggest rock song ever. The problem with SS was that Turn My Head should have been more heavily promoted. Instead they focused more on Freaks, which I love, but it does not really appeal to the masses.

Not putting Vine Street on that album was also a mistake.

The Dolphin's Cry, those exact lyrics, took Live from a rock band towards pop for a lot of people, at least around here.

ive often wondered who live listens to when it comes to track lists and singles and a myriad of their other decisions.

i know record label has some say but id be curious to know who else has their ear on songs to leave off or on or whatever

whoever made the choice to leave hold me up off of tc is a jackass

and whoever decided to not transfer it to ss is a jackass (i know its a diff sound but who cares. its maybe their best song lol)

whoever decided not to put it on tdth is a jackass

whoever decided not to give it to fans for a hiliday gift is a jackass

if it is a legal thing then the lawyers are jackasses

basically everyone is a jackass until we have hold me up

So I was in college when this album came out and I recall how the situation played out pretty well. Making The Dolphins Cry the lead single really did damage to Live's rep and hurt this album. Nobody made the connection between the lyrics and sex.

Really??? them's some pretty stupid people, its not even like its hidden in there.

not having sirens call as the single for the turn was a bad choice.

Lakini's Juice was a great first single, no argument there.

Thought it was reported that it was Ed's call to hang on to the track and not release it. He wanted to save it for a later time.

Anyone else remember if that is correct?

I agree that Vodoo Lady would have been an awesome single, just to know that a lot of non-Live fans would have a chance to hear it.

Dolphin's Cry is the most radio friendly, in my opinion, so it makes sense to me.

I think The Distance would have performed terribly as a single, especially amongst the nu-metal context of 99. But I love that song.

And BTW, Hold Me Up is the shit. But after Churchbox, give me a studio quality release of Photograph over Hold Me Up any day of the week. The jam at the end of Photograph is one of the best things ever to grace my ears. I can only imagine how great it would be post-production.

You're talking about the general public. If you don't think they're dumb just look at how many of them vote for Trump tomorrow.

I really think this statement makes sense, this song will appeal to old and new fans, it's that good.

Agreed, the only choice for the first single in my opinion.

I remember Ed said in an interview that he likes the mystery surrounding Hold Me Up or something to that effect, which is why it's not out. He said he knows that it (the low quality version) is on youtube and that it is circulated.

Exactly, and it's not a very good song, let alone a single.

thumbsup.gif Yes, it's the best single part of any LIVE song ever.
