Not to give an excuse for Shinn's performance in Anaheim, but I heard at that time that he lost a good friend days before that trip.

As for his contribution. I think it's huge. Jerry Harrison really pushed him hard on the Turn and I still like that album a lot.

The problem is with his involvment and desire to be REALLY DEEPLY in it. Someone who is totally in it would stop after a while screwing lyrics. I mean, theybdid an TC show and he had a book with lyrics, but he still messed up a couple of times, particularly in TBD. The show wasn't that great...good, but not great. At the same time, Pillar of Davidson, with backing vocals and original musicians, was amazing.

I'm sure CCP made a decision after seeing for a while that Shinn wasn't getting better with lyrics. I was able to meet Shinn twice, and he looks like a very nice person, humble, friendly and taking time to consider the fans. But you still got to perform one day. The 2013 Summerland tour was great as well. Glad I could see them 3 times with him. Music so loud and passionate again.

His legacy is still very good for Live 2.0. Siren's Call, 6310 rodgerton rd and a few others are in par with many of other Live songs, Thanks for all Chris!

Starting to think so also. When Ed said "we're still in a band together", that doesn't say to me that they might reunite, that says to me that they are already doing something.

Combined with Chad's earlier statements in January about new Live material being worked on, that says to me things may indeed have already been working well before that radio show.

It's some evidence of something, anyway, and it's what I have been saying has been lacking for months.

I'm pretty excited now.

I would assume they're doing something in the studio. From the way Ed talked it seemed really clear that he had been spending time in the studio when Zoe was being recorded. But I'd assume they tested the water with some stuff too.

It dawned on me (warning: speculation ahead) that the blacking out of websites and delaying of any announcement might be for legal reasons - ironing out Chris Shinn's legal rights, and maybe ECCP's legal rights, and so forth. Probably better to address it ahead of time, right?

That's possible. Also I'm guessing its part of the "don't jump the gun too soon" thing with Ed. Which is smart. If they are to do this then going about it low key - being able to take the time building relationships again, working on compromises etc. That stuff would all be much easier to do without the weight of expectation hanging over them. Sure it means they have to live with increased speculation, but perhaps they would rather people do that than jump the gun with it. Which ... has not been Live's, particularly CT's strong suit. That man sure loves to jump the gun. So that's a positive sign at least. Even if the catalyst for getting back together is the wrong reasons ($$) it seems they're at least taking the best path possible to it.

Yea, it was speculated here before that the websites are down and Ed is silent because of a legal issue. It was thought that they might have been arguing about something again, but since that is not the case, I feel you are still right... they are quiet because of legal reasons regarding contracts/letting Shinn go.

It also wouldn't surprise me that they are simply just trying to create buzz. If they left the websites up and everything looked stagnant - that's less exciting and creates less speculation. If they pull everything, shut it all down and just go to ground ... well, it at least gets people talking. "Are they done for good? Is Ed coming back? Are they just revamping their site (lol)?" It is clever in its own way.

I don't trust any of their marketing ideas for the last 20 years. Pledge was a good idea to promote The Turn, also the release of 5 songs one day after the other, but ultimately, the band just lacked of followers to be really successful.

From a legal standpoint, there would be no reason to take down websites in order to negotiate a band member's exit. One might need to do so if, as part of the agreement, the exiting band member's likeness (image or recordings) was no longer to be used. Then you could understand why they'd just black it out and then rebuild later.

Unless and until Shinn is officially out of the band, I would assume his contract permits Live to utilize his image.

Now, whether they would want to, that's a whole other story.

In terms of maintaining silence and not announcing a reunion, well those could definitely happen if they were negotiating. Although, I can't really imagine there's all that much to negotiate.

i wonder if ed came to a compromise on all the bad blood. I mean he tried to throw CCP off the momentum with Chris Shinn around 2012-13 when they decided to work together. I am going on a ledge but I am sure he had to sacrifice a lot and it made him really upset but pressed on with his solo career even calling CS and CCP karakoe. I am sensing CT also from his own admissions on FB that he forgave Ed and laid a future foundation of open door to discuss reconciliation. my 1 toonie.
