I think the first thing might be SS related, but i'm up for anything as i'm sure most fans are. Have at it, what do you think!?

As far as any Live material pre the breakup, I really hope its remasters and not re-recordings.

If they're writing new material, my expectations are it'll be on par with "Like I Do" off BOP.

The realistic expectation is something similar to BOP - a harder sound, but deflated and simple lyrics. Though BOP, many years later, holds up a helluva lot better than SFBM many years later. Strangely, the other day, I was actually craving listening to BOP. Won't happen with SFBM.

I HOPE - I hope Ed finds that fiery lyrical poetry that he was good at. I almost never understood what his lyrics meant, but god damn they sounded great. I think CCP can still make music like they used to, but they need Ed to dig more deeply to find that sound/feel again.

Hope no re-recondings.

I'd be fine with BOP sound if on par with Like I Do, Lighthouse, Rivertown, She

I mostly expect interviews and maybe some shows before anything gets released. I'm expecting a Mental Jewelry re-release with some B-Sides that we've already heard around New Years.

However, the elephant in the room still remains, which is the animosity that lasted for so long between CCP and Ed. If they just kind of brush it off and don't discuss their journey to reconciliation (or, at the very least, write lyrics about reconciliation), I will have a much harder time being a Live fan. A lack of open discussion about these issues suggests that nothing got resolved and they all needed some last-hurrah money/fame in their middle age.

I don't get the money grab theory though. Don't these guys still have a ton of cash? And even if their bank accounts are running dry, will a new Live record/tour really support them financially in the long run?

This band has drawn its die-hard fans through a shit storm for many years. It's going to take many apologies and confessions before people take them seriously again.

I would take The Turn with Ed on vocals over BOP. BOP is a little too safe for me. I used to think What are We Fighting For had terrible lyrics, and then SFBM came out....

I really liked all the B-Sides and experimentation going on during the TDTH - V era as well. The production and track choices were terrible on V, but I find the material on that album far more interesting than anything on BOP.

Ed always said TDTH is his favorite Live album. While I prefer other albums over it, I would be happy to see them pursue that direction again with a little more input from CCP.

Don't expect anything, be glad it happened. That being said, 12/31 is the 25th anniversary of Mental Jewelry being released. I thought I heard something about that radio station they were at the other night was where they first played or announced it. Maybe they will make an announcement there on 12/31 that a remastered limited edition diamond encrusted Mental Jewelry will be released, and use the anniversary to announce that the band will be on tour with new music in 2017. The themes and emotions of MJ are very relevant to the crap going on in the world today.

I personally have missed the "old" Live- pre TDTH. I like TDTH, and songs after that, but it felt like the rock was gone. It's understandable because people get older and mature, have kids, and the process of making music and relaying words turns into a business, where before it started as more organic. Them being back together in York symbolizes to me them getting back to their roots, back to when it was fun. I think the breakup or whatever you want to call it was necessary for them to get their shit straight. Maybe Ed got too cocky. Maybe it was necessary for him to sew his oats as a solo artist to say he did it.

I think without an announcement of the site going dark and neither promoting any of their own stuff, that it's obvious they will be making a comeback. Don't expect it though.

Realistically, I expect a really diplomatic approach. CCP and Ed have come to an agreement with how to proceed. Both sides would have brought their own demands to compromise how moving forward is handled. CCP will demand more collaboration with Ed, a move to working how they did in the old days, to reel in his ego. We at least are already seeing the results of that with Ed talking in the collective "we" in that radio interview from the other day whereas for years he has been "I" when referring to anything Live related.
Ed's demands probably are the minimise the talk and exposure of Live happening without him. It'll mostly be ignored. Any mention of it will be positive but vague like "it was good to reacquaint ourselves with those songs again while Ed did his solo thing" etc. Any talk of the lawsuit will be swept aside "brothers fight, we worked it all out, it wasn't as bad as people made out" etc. They'll basically play happy families and be as vague as possible on anything that is questionable.

I think we get a few reunion shows ... nothing too offensive. All the hits, minimal from post TDTH. Maybe Simple Creed, Overcome, Heaven. All very safe.

I think any new music at best will be closer to along the lines of Like I Do quality. Nothing truly interesting, but nothing too far the other way either.

Hopefully we get them working harder to get old material out though. I'm hoping that the rift between them was a real stumbling block in getting more old stuff out there. But I still won't hold my breath. Live are notorious with over promising and under delivering (until suddenly something just shows up out of the blue ala Churckbox).

I guess I picture everything being just very safe, don't rock the boat kind of thing. Whether that be in their press releases, their shows, their new music etc.

Eurm... "Ed is back"? Because Ed and Chad T. worked on another artist's record together? Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves?

No one said Chad G. and Patrick were even on speaking terms with Ed.

I know he said they're still in a band together but do we know what they did on Zoe's record? What if that's what they were referring to?

Based on the radio broadcast, Ed didn't work on Zoe's record. He was in the same studio for whatever reason when they were working on that album.

The 4 guys were seen together at a restaurant before the interview.

Well I've seen the post about it here but that remains to be verified. Not trying to be negative, I am hopeful but I'm just careful.

I think I would be satisfied with re-issue of the entire catalog on vinyl (including some 7 and 10 inch singles - like Pearl Jam are doing) and then some unreleased and B-side material getting proper releases and maybe some touring - worldwide.

Not asking too much, am I? lol.gif

Would also like to see what Ed does with tracks off The Turn. When I say 'like', I mean 'curious'.
