I posted a similar thread in the main Live group about CCCP, so lets hear what serious questions you'd ask Ed if you a journalist sitting down with him for an interview.

I would ask him how and why he lost his mojo?...How does he go from the likes Heropsychodreamer to a song like Seven which sounds like it should be "playing in a Christian bookstore in the middle of Iowa." (Quoting the best YouTube comment I've ever seen). Seriously!--Some journalist needs to get some balls to ask/speak the truth.
And don't get it twisted...I freaking love Ed.

If you were a journalist how would you phrase the question in a way that would get an honest response from Ed?

I would ask Ed this; undoubtedly your vocal contribution to the band LiVe and your later solo work has changed significantly - is this the result of a conscious decision to alter the way in which you sing or was there some vocal damage suffered e.g burn out, nodes etc.

To which Ed would reply something like: "it's all part of the creative veena who moves in different ways to the water of my consciousness - my solo material is really where I wish to focus now and the songs both old and new are still resonating with audiences around the globe"

I would then play a clip from Woodstock 99' of the dolphin's cry followed by any later version of the song say 2000-2015. And say: you cannot despute the evident changes in vocal delivery - are they deliberate or forced upon you by circumstances?

Anything less than a straight answer at that point I would walk away.

That's definitely the most pressing question on my mind too. Sadly I don't think it'd be possible to get a straight answer from him on it.

Yes, I've always wanted to know if his change in voice and song style was intentional or not.

In an interview recently (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foWSThaHyNE), he was asked about the difference between his voice back then and now. He stated he believes his voice is more capable now than it ever was, which kind of avoided the question.

In his more recent youtube performances, he's sounding much better although not quite what he used to be. I'd still love to know if it's on purpose or not.

No way it's purposeful. He had surgery after he lost his voice. His voice is diminished with each successive album. All the screaming has taken its toll.

I'm sure it's a combination of physical constraints and stylistic choices.

When did he lose his voice and have surgery? Is this documented?

I'd ask him who told him he had a good falsetto and that he should use it more.

Then I'd go find that person and kick them in the balls and run away.
