Whether you agreed or not with the way that Live released these tracks, by spreading it like wildfire you all show your true colors. It goes against the direct wishes of the band, and if these actions directly result in the complete stoppage of future releases, the blame falls entirely at all of your feet.

For the record, I also missed out on the release of this material. The difference is that I acted like a mature adult, not like a crying, whiney child.

Between 1997-2009, in Live-Web, Illout, the old FOL boards, and this FOL board, and every other Live fan site in the world, fans shared and celebrated whenever unreleased material surfaced without the slightest resistance from fellow fans.

The band wants us to love Secret Samadhi and we do in this thread. Quit whining about it!

I opted for the working title 'Crayons' instead of 'Century', as that lyric had not yet been written.
However, I've included an alternate back cover for anyone who would prefer it as 'Century' smile.gif

So the message here is that by finding a way to listen to something that we were never “supposed to” enjoy, now the band won’t release anything else in the future… that we wouldn’t have been allowed to enjoy then either. The message is both now AND in the future, don’t enjoy this. Ever. Never enjoy anything.

I mean, really, is that not the message being conveyed?

Not for nothing, putting ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ aside, why would anyone in their right mind accept making a choice to not enjoy something right now… only so that more music can then come out later… that they also won’t be “allowed” to enjoy, since enjoying ‘that’ would only prevent more from coming out at an even later date to follow? What’s the real downside here for the “ordinary” community members who, contrary to specific opinions, AREN’T against the success of the band in its current iteration, and just want to enjoy the music like everyone else?

Is the argument that “eventually” everything will come out, and THEN we can enjoy it? That’s bogus for two reasons:

1. We’ll never get EVERYthing released. It’ll just never happen. Legal issues. Band personality issues. Done.

2. Even if we did have ‘everything’ out there finally, those select ‘few’ who had everything would never share it. Not one person from the bunch of ‘insiders’. They would say “no, this was ‘gifted’ long ago, and the band didn’t want it mass released, so I must respect their wishes and tell you to go fuck yourself.” OR they would be absolutely fine with the ‘peons’ finally getting to listen to the music 30 years later… but you know… it’s just so much trouble to upload that to a dropbox link… it might take ten whole minutes… it’s just not worth the effort. Maybe someone else can do it. Someone, I don’t know… who doesn’t resent the ‘scoundrels’ of the fansoflive community and isn’t enjoying the fact that they’ve been left out for however long.

By the way, since people seem to conveniently have a very short memory, this “now we’ll never get anything else” is the very same argument that was used ‘against’ fans when TDTH demos got out. And here we are. The cycle returns. The nonsense continues.

Furthermore, I have to ask… WHEN did enjoying a band’s music become a ‘bad’ thing? When did this become the band VERSUS their fans? Is this not the most ridiculous, asinine, totally completely batshit crazy thing? I’m legitimately confused.

I mean, for better or worse, I get the whole arguing of Ed vs. CCP. It’s not a good look. For ANY of us. But I at least see how people might have bases for certain opinions in that regard.

But we’re fucking arguing about listening to a band’s music!! This is so…. I have no words. Fans of a band are being SHAMED for wanting to enjoy the band’s music.

Look I get it. Your argument is that these are the band’s wishes. To me, that makes them complicit in this whole “haves” vs. “have nots” dynamic we all seem to be stuck in now. And that’s another argument for another time. But whether it’s the band, “friends” of the band, “colleagues” of the band, “real” fans, or whoever else… I ask you, please just stop and look around…. FANS are being SHAMED for ENJOYING MUSIC!

I’d like to invite all those doing this to come join me at the best strip club in town. Let’s find the hottest stripper in the joint. Let’s walk her over to the horniest guy. Let’s have her get him as aroused as humanly possible. …And then let’s whack that guy square in the nuts with a hammer and say “uh uh… none of this boner business or she’ll never take her top off again. Your boner is ruining the club for everyone else.”

‘Everyone else’, of course, being the select few who are actually ‘allowed’ to enjoy the strippers, even though the guy with the hammer on his nuts just paid the cover and 2-drink minimum at the door like everyone else.

Call me whiney, but after years and years and years …and years…. And years of this, I have to say, this is just….. fuck, man.

Sad.

I’m not even mad at you. I’m just confused that you see fellow fans as this burden when one of them was probably right next to you ten years ago, singing along to Lightning Crashes with you in row three, making sure the moron behind you didn't spill beer on your shirt.

In the Live-Web days, the shame would be on any argument like this ever happening.

Id like to know what you mean by wildfire? #churchbox is not trending on Twitter right now. By the way, you win the fansoflive most mature member.

"Hey everyone, look at how self-righteous I am!"

We can debate Chad's intentions all day, but I feel like the whole "don't share this" was just something he had to say, and was really more like "don't share this *wink*". Did the band not give out these recordings last year to some fans who attended the Live sleepover and breakfast thing? I swear I read some people hinting that they had these recordings since October, given to them personally by the band. It could have ended there, because obviously those fans did not share the recordings. But it didn't. Instead Chad uploaded them to the internet and shared them on social media with anyone who was lucky enough to get them in time. Now unless Chad is extremely ignorant of how things go on the internet, he knew they would be shared among fans beyond those who got the Dust message. Chad had to realize that once he shared them like this they would be somewhere on the internet forever.

This "Graze" is just amazing, imo. The raw, gritty sound really fits the song.

The grit to me makes it sound like Graze is actually from an inferior source to the other tracks (like a cassette transfer). It's actually a bit painful to listen to on a decent pair of cans. The audio quality on the rest is outstanding though.

Yeah, there is definitely some annoying buzzing sound on this track, but I really like the more distorted guitar tones in comparison to the album version.

That's grit and buzz sounds like mic placement near an amp for Chad to me

buzzing from the guitar is the 60hz cycle from the pickup...ground was not lifted using xlr cables, mic'd near the amp....they're just demos after all!
