Since when did they abandon The Gracious Few? KM himself said that there will be more TGF material. And before you bring up the fact the TGF has around 500 followers on Spotify, I see the reasoning for that is because they were not branded with a name from their successful pasts. Plus the music, while solid and awesome, was a fairly niche style. There aren't a lot of people out there now looking for a throwback style to classic rock from a new band. I don't think the boys cared, they wanted to make great music, which they did. That is also the reason they wanted to keep the legacy of LIVE alive as well by making more solid music under the name of THEIR band.

I don't even have spotify. TGF haven't done anything in over 3 years.......they may do something again in the future, but for now they are done.

downloading doesn't help either... Unless the artists have downloads available directly from their own site, they are making little off of them. Profits from iTunes are crap.

Yet the artist or the record label for the artist are the ones who make the music available to Spotify.

I just saw today that Taylor Swift took her music off Spotify.

Plus I have bought every single LIVE album, some two, three, four plus times, so for me to listen to them on Spotify is just bonus change for them.

Thom Yorke did the same. You can look at it many ways though. Some artists don't have an issue giving their music away (at least in part), and it can be a good marketing tool to drive sales of the album in other formats. Every situation is different though. Some artists/labels only offer select songs from the album to be played via spotify as incentive for the customer to buy the album elsewhere.

I think Spotify is at least trying to help in the piracy battle. Whether their deals with artist are fair or not, I have no idea.

Spotify is perfectly legal and the artists/labels agree to be on there. Get over yourself for once.

That's fairly short-sighted. Labels may agree, but artists rarely have a say. Sure they signed their life away with their record contract, but many of these things (like spotify) were science fiction at that time.

Spotify is not healthy for the music industry, but in general it's not been a good system for decades. Artists have been getting ripped off looooong before the internet and spotify. There are a variety of other options that have been made available in recent years that are much better for the actual artist, and its now easier as an artist to promote and sell your own music. Live is currently doing that through their own label/businesses. We'll continue to see more of that in the future, regardless of whether or not they choose to participate in things like Spotify.

According to Hits Daily Double, The Turn didn't make the Billboard Top 50. The #50 album was Primus with 6,728 copies sold.
