Actually, I joined this board three years ago because sometimes the best news/info you can get on some of your favorite bands can be found on message boards. I've learned a ton about Live on this site and I've always enjoyed it. I have never posted in the past because I never felt like chiming in.

Funny...I often thought that maybe the people on this page were being unfair to you, Nick. Now I think I know why you draw their ire. No need to jump to conclusions man. I'm not trashing Ed nor will I. I am just stating my observations, which last time I checked was the whole reason for having a message board in the first place.

Of course, you are allowed to your opinion too. I'll stop short of calling you a troll, and just see your post as misguided.

-Andy

Well said Andy. Don't let the moron affect you.

Also, for the record, I may have actually created this account because I almost felt compelled to post back when I created it, then changed my mind because my facts were wrong or I didn't feel like I was adding anything to the conversation.

Thank you! It feels good to be passionate about a Live album again. I was extremely skeptical of Chris Shinn at first, but I think they tailor made the album to play to his strengths, while re-inventing themselves in a manner that gives them at least a shot of being relevant again. Will some people look up at the stage and cringe when they don't see Ed up there? Absolutely. But, like I said, keeping an open mind is important. I was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to seeing some of the songs in person.

Now that I've broken the seal, maybe I'll speak up a little more. I don't know the insides of the band and I barely know the story of what drove them apart. All I know is the music. Live was number one to me back when I was younger, and a big part of that was Ed's vocals. Ed, much like Live has evolved. He is a different artist, now working in a different genre. People in the Christian Rock world probably eat up what he has to offer. I said it before, I thought that Alive was a good album...and I'm not into that genre. I think that CCCP have evolved as well. If you keep an open mind, it really can be a win/win for everyone in both camps. There really isn't much reason for hate. All you have to do is ask yourself the question. Is Ed better off right now going on his own? Yes. It gives him the freedom to do what he wants at his leisure without having any creative strife with his band. Is Live better off now with Chris instead of Ed? Yes. Chris allows the band to move towards the creative direction that they wanted to go, while having a serviceable vocalist who can even hold his own singing some of the old stuff. If Live was in its original lineup, you would more than likely see an album that was the composite of two artistic mindsets going in opposite directions. In cases like that, you get albums that are half hearted, and lacking in chemistry. If you are a fan of Live, and you have an open mind, you win based on the fact that at least all of the members in its original lineup are creatively dedicating 100% to their efforts. Personally, I love it.

Ok, one week later now. i already gave a review but as i gave The Turn a lot of more spins, my 'order' changed a little bit.

01. Siren's Call 10/10
02. Don't Run To Wait 8,5/10
03. Natural Born Killer 8,5/10
04. 6310 Rogerton Dr 10/10
05. By Design 9,5/10
06. The Way Around Is Through 9/10
07. Need Tonight 9/10
08. The Strenght To Hold On 8/10
09. We Open The Door 9/10
10. He Could Teach The Devil Tricks 9,5/10
11. Till You Came Around 8/10

As you can see, i'm very positive about the new album. We also got 2 very outstanding songs with Siren's Call and 6310 Rodgerton. Those 2 will be a good choice for a second single.

I absolutely agree. The album is growing on me madly. One of my friends who recently discovered Live is very fond of this album, too. It's some true rock and you can't dispute that. thumbsup.gif

Spread the love. some of my friends are also digging the record, and thanks to this release, my dad is starting to listen to this album, and the older Live albums again. Glad he's with me in Amsterdam on the 7th. It will be our very first Live show.

Have you given it many spins yet? How are you feeling about the album?

Nick, it would be nice if you gave The Turn a few spins, and putted your mind on 'zero' if you know what i mean.

I know you don't like the band is still called Live with another singer in it, but imagine this record was by a completly new discovered band, how would you like it then?

Listened to it once on the Amazon stream. The music was just not my thing. I couldn't identify with the lyrics, and I found that the CCP jam sessions made many songs longer than they needed to be. I also feel the album lacked a good slower tempo song(the album closer just didn't do it for me).

I completely agree. If you are a fan of rock, there's really no way you could not like this album.

I wouldn't. I am rarely a big fan of hard rock music, and this album lacks many quality slower paced breaks within the tracks.

I don't believe you. Your posts are full of contradictions. On the one hand, you say that you are fan of 90s Live and that you consider TC and SS Live's best. On the other hand, you are not fan of hard rock. About half of the songs off both TC and SS are actually quite heavy.

My conclusion is that you either like The Turn a lot but you feel shame to admit or you don't like the original Live sound and you want Live to make albums like SFBM. If it is the former I understand, if it is the latter i think you have no position in a fans of Live forum.
