Are you planning on going to any Live shows?

I thought you said you were going to catch them next time they were in Southern Cal? How was the show Tuesday?

If that was true The Gracious Few would still be touring, and Kevin Martin wouldn't have returned to Candlebox. Touring is expensive. The smaller venues you play the less money you take in.

Money aside, Live had built a niche as one of the most consistent touring acts of the 90's. They always filled venues, and were able to headline tours solo and with other bands. They also always put on a fantastic show.

Live opening up for Everclear was a huge step down. Not only that, but they have looked bored on stage. The performance quality has gone way down since they reformed. It is sad to watch only because they are using the name Live.

CCP are tearing down something that the four guys built up over a 25 year period.

CCP are slowly tearing down all the good will they built up over 20 years by forming this new Live.

Kevin Martin is involved in plenty of projects because he loves music, wants to create and work with plenty of different people. Again you take music as a business more than as an art. Of course he wants to live with it, and he deserves it because he is talented.

If live really wanted to be relevant again, they would tour, and tour again. Like they did with Summerland. I saw one of these shows and of course the best move for them would have been to release an album during Summerland or just after it. If they don't do any of these things, it's because that is what they want, not what a business adviser would say to them.

They don't destroy anything. It was said a lot of times now that they won't do this forever, we have a very solid album if it's their last.

But Live with all four original members would at least be able to fill 1000-2000 seat venues. 90's nostalgia has been kicking into higher gear the last few years, and Live hasn't been able to take advantage.

there's a thing called Summerland. advantage taken.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Oct 30 2014, 12:26 pm) *

Also Live never was able to take advantage of the social media craze. It all ended before FB and Twiiter really kicked into gear. Live has very passionate fans on both sides, together we would make very strong supporters of Live.

they took advantage of social media. Both sides includes the side that doesn't want Ed involved with the band obviously.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Oct 30 2014, 12:26 pm) *

It is a shame they can't get along and do a proper tour, because to steal a term, it is what most REAL FANS would want.

you don't think they're going to tour?

They were one act out of four, and the tour netted no sell outs(in venues that Live used to sell out all by themselves in many cases.)

If they don't end up doing any extensive tours and just play some shows here and there that is fine by me. It's hard for me and most fans to get out to shows these days.

As long as they release quality music like on The Turn, which is far superior to any junk of SFBM, Alive and TFATFM, fans like myself will be happy as a clam.

Art has said that the Summerland line-up will be announced soon, maybe Live is back on it?

Everclear and LIVE seem to have a connection nowadays. Everclear recorded their upcoming album "Black is the new black" at Think Loud. But I actually think that Art is looking for new bands. I'd love Better than Ezra or something.

And about opening for Everclear being a huge step down. Actually since 2000 Live hasn't been the bigger act. Songs from an American Movie Vol 1. sold more copies than V ever did. And Slow Motion Daydream was similary successful to BOP.

Touring wise Everclear was no match for Live in the 2000's. Everclear would half fill many venues that Live easily sold out(Starland Ballroom comes to mind).

It's quite amazing how you measure success of art.

^This, and related:

Collective Soul, obviously not your taste in music, fair enough, but i'm pretty sure that their self titled album went platinum, and maybe other album(s) they put out in the 90's. They have taken a similar route to Live's career, ya know, big (Popular) in the 90's, fall from popularity in the 2000's.

sigh. Not to sound pretentious, but I hate that we have to put a capitalistic viewpoint on determining the quality or relevance of art and whether or not it is successful. Justin Bieber, Nickelback, Robin Thicke, and Nicki Minaj all had albums that went multi-platinum. So what if a bunch of teenagers or middle-aged women bought their records at Target? That is supposed to make me respect them?

My point with all of this is not to bash other types of music or what people listen to. The point is, that if the band is making music they love, and are enjoying what they do, then that's great. I've seen more comments judging the band on how many copies of the album and concert tickets they will sell and how active they are on social media, than on what people actually think of the music.

Stop worrying about how much income these guys are going to rake in or how many followers they are going to get on their twitter account. I'm sure they'll find a way to pay the bills...

Been listening to this album for 2 days to let it sink in. Till you came around is the best song sonically for me, but 6310 Rodgerton is the best lyrically. The hard rocking songs are okay, but I think I prefer TGF for that direction. Overall 8/10

Oh yeah, don't buy the CD, go with the MP3s! They cheaped out on the packaging and there are no lyrics inside. I bought it because I'm a fan and like to collect the hard copies, but I did feel ripped.

Still waiting on the vinyl. No way I am buying the MP3s, I hate compressed formats, and can count the number of times on one hand that I've purchased them (usually it was the only format released). I would spend some money on it now if they had a FLAC option like bandcamp.

I'll wait a bit longer for news on the vinyl, but may have to double dip with a CD.

I think it will be a while before the vinyl version is released. FLACs are available to people who ordered from the PledgeMusic.com site.

I'm assuming you did that? What is the bit depth of the FLAC files?
