For me this "Live" album may is the worst thing released by a member of Live. It gets tiresome very quickly with no real standout songs. I initially liked Siren's Call, but the song become dull after a few listens.

CCP and their ego's ended up having jam sessions that took 3 minute songs and made them 4/5 minute songs for no real reason. That is fine once or twice on an album, but not for virtually every song. I wasn't a huge fan of the majority of TGF's music, but that album runs circles around The Turn.

It is good to see so much discussion about the band and this new record. It's fine that fans have varying opinions so long as people are talking about it whether it's positive or negative.
Thanks Nikki. laugh.gif

Ed's last album is the worst thing ever released by a member of Live. That includes SFBM.

You should have started with "For me", like Nick did.

Personally I think TFATM is way better than The Turn. I'm already getting tired of The Turn and it's hasn't even been a week. Till You Came Around and By Design are worse than any song on SFBM. They're so bad they literally make me feel sick.

The "me" you are referring to is a very large portion of the origina Live fan base. Most fans from the past and present jumped ship when they heard the musical direction Ed took Live and his solo career on.

I just listened to SFBM the other day, and I still enjoy it quite a lot. Mystery, Wings, Sofia, Night of Nights.....they are a lot of good songs on the album.

I also believe that CCP need a strong frontman like Ed to reign them in. The music of "The Turn" is filled with too many overcooked guitar solos, intros, and fade outs. Ed knew the benefit of a well timed solo to make it special, CCP overdid it with this album.

This band seems so rejuvenated with Chris at the helm. Lots of energy on this album. Chris brings it and gives Live a rebirth.

My thoughts on this album:

- In my opinion any review of this album can begin and end with Siren's Call. I simply cannot express how much I love this song. Not as a Live song, but as a ROCK song. SC isn't just a good song, it's an amazing song. I seriously could put it on repeat and listen to it all week. This song alone makes the entire album worth purchasing. I've been shocked by everyone who did not give this song a 10+ / 10. It is one of my favorite songs from any band in the past 10 years.

- The Way Around Is Through is a distant second best track. I like it and think it's a good song.

- We Open The Door is decent. I like the concept and overall sound, but I'm not a fan of the lead by Chad.

- 6310 Rogerton Dr is the biggest disappointment for me on this album. Everything in the refrain is there for this to be an awesome song. The lyrics, the sound, the riff, the bass. On the other side everything about the verses kills this song (as listed above). It reminds me of Sun on how it was so close to being awesome, yet so far away.

Everything Live aside, the music compiled creates a decent album with a stand out gem of a song.

But that's not even what Hoodstock said. He's comparing it to Ed's previous album and EP's as well, which he kinda liked.

Just to be clear I liked about 6 songs on Alive, the Garden EP (not including the remixes), and Parasite.

I cannot express in words how bad I think Ed's last album was. It was horrible.

On TFATM I really like:

Seven
Angels on a Razor
Holy Water Tears
Bottle of Anything
The Watchman's Lament

Compared to The Turn:

Siren's Call
Rodgerton
By Design
We open the door

So it's pretty even. I think I slightly prefer Ed's songs, but the production on The Turn is better.

Supernatural Fire though is the worst song of both albums.

Personally, I think the lot of you are strange as hell.
Why do you people over analyze like this?
This is a BAND. And a medeocre one at that.
I just find it creepy as hell how some of you are talking about a SHITTY record.
Oh wait, i'll say instead, To ME it's shitty.
YOU like it and that is okay.

It's not produced well, the mixing is off ...blah blah blahhhhh
I mean i could go on and on like some of you are but WHY?? I mean really?

The album will not do well. All the WD crew knows it and this is why they are still harping on the whole ed thing. They don't want to face the truth. I know it hurts but eventually they will "get it".

Most live fans went with Ed. Sad to say but def true. cry.gif

I knew from when i first heard and saw them...there is no real connection between the guys. Nothing special.

When you have no fire, or spark... there is no magic. Kudos to them for trying and that they are still playing and doing what they love.

Hard to chose the top 5 tracks but here it goes.

1. The Strength to Hold On
2. Need Tonight
3. 6310 Rodgerton Dr
4. Sirens Call
5. Till You Came Around

Everyones got their own list though. I suppose because theres so many quality songs and my list will probably change next week anyways.
