I do not blame Ed only. I never did. CCP are responsible too for tolerating all this and for not taking any action earlier. But I do not think that Ed was just steering the company's wheel. It seems to me that he wanted to go poppier. He started it with TDTH, which he said that it is his favorite album. Even inspired, half of TDTH is far away from Live's heavy and melodic sound (both music and vocals). Anyway, what's done is done. I am currently satisfied with Live 2.0 because it brings back the Live sound. If Live 1.0 (1990s version) decides to come back that I will welcome and will make me happy.

You know, I started with TDTH, the whole musical scale on this album for me is Live.

And sure, Ed wanted to do this, that's why he actually took the wheel, and everbody let him. My point was just that his complete reign started after V. I don't know if you can pinpoint it on a timeline anyway. It was a longer process than we all think I guess, with different characters holding on, having hopes, being disappointed and trying again until surrendering.

But it doesn't matter. What's done is done, like you said. I am satisfied aswell, so we could call ourselves the lucky ones.

TDTH a was the beginning if the overuse of the falsetto that everyone hates. I remember listening to that album and wondering why he was doing that. His falsetto is not even a good one, it shouldn't be featured so prominently.

That being said, I still enjoyed the subsequent albums, if not as much as the others. That's ok, though, because I still had the older CDs and could listen to them also, I didn't need a re-do.

Regardless of how good TDTH is (which is very good) as an album on its own, it was the beginning of the Live's end. The albums that followed killed it all.

Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot. But I don't think anyone can say that Ed's overuse of the falsetto on that album was anything less than questionable.

His voice was so toast that he had to go into falsetto to hit those higher notes.

I think it worked sometimes. I don't think The Distance would have been done very well without the falsetto.

It might actually be the best of the three new songs.

It is the most Classic Live song we have heard.

Notice how the pace of the 3 songs are different. In the past, Live were writing songs that often have the same pace. Think about I alone, White, Discussion, Lakini's Juice, rattlesnake, and some others. But these 3 songs are completely different. The 2 other songs we have heard also have different paces, Don't wait being a little bit reminiscent of Stage. Really, this album is already very good.
