Criticizing the procedure, why?

What about your feeling of the content, the music? laugh.gif

Why do you ask? Don't you know the answer? The song is bad, it is an outtake, it is lame and bla bla bla

The Siren's Call is a great song, but We Open the Door and The Way Around is Through rely far too heavily on a hooky chorus. They get old quickly.

I hope the album is decent, but they aren't wowing with some of these teasers...

Wow...the more I read the more I can agree with these and other comments. I decided to listen a few more times. After that, unfortunately...I got tired of listening. I think I was looking for something more to 'wow' me, but as time went on, I felt like I was forcing myself to like the song. Relating to my previous statement though, I liked TDTH for different reasons, but I think the vibe was so much different, especially in 1999. This newer sound and attempt...ehh. Unfortunately, it's just falling flat for me. It's not a bad song, but it's definitely not a winner to me. Again, very safe sounding and perhaps almost like a filler song to me now.

It's hard to understand why people want to rely songs absolutely to something that was done 15-20 years ago that you have listenened 1000 times. Of course you can't get that connection instantly.

again, If Ed would release something exactly like this with his voice, Nick would like it.

I prefer Siren's call, but this song is so much better than 90%-95% of the things after V because of the structure and the instrumentation. Yes I compare with the old but not the feelings, the musicianship in it. Love the build-up at the end especially. In this, the 4 guys gave it all no questions!

It might not be their best effort but I do like how they are slowing releasing these songs.

They are gradually painting us an image of what Live is and is going to be moving forward. I'm liking what I'm seeing and hearing. It's too bad Live had lost this ability while Ed was fronting them for so many years.

The excitement around Live fans is intense right now. Great job guys! Let's keep it going. rockin.gif

Siren's Call? Love it

WOTD? wow!

It only gets better and better for me, i liked TWAIT and Siren's Cal but this one is the best they have done so far. I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but this song just has a magic feeling. I really like it. keep on going guys.

Who cares what that little peon thinks? It sounds like the majority of old Live fans are feeling it again and that's all that matters.

I like this. The opening and first verse gave me chills. It did drag on a bit, kind of like TWAIT did. I think they could've cut a bit of it out.

Chad hit the nail on the head for me in his intro. When he talked about the "odd spiritual thing we do" and how when he heard this he knew it was a Live album. That "thing", whatever you want to call it - is all I've wanted since 2001's album didn't have it.

This song has it do a degree - I did get genuine chills in the beginning. I've heard three songs so far and it's nice to have that familiar "thing" back after so long. It's not quite as powerful (yet) that I can tell - but it's back.

I'm with you on that. It has that "thing", Chad talks about it in the intro. It has that thing!!!

That intangible "thing" you are referring to is an immeasurable and unquantifiable quality that Live's music possessed in the early years that we all fell in love with. It had been sorely missed the last couple of albums they put out under Ed's direction.

It's back and better than ever sons.

This

Rythm section is the key here...

Notice how loud is the drum particularly. Then go listen to the CD from the Paradiso show. It is a total contrast. The drums are totally buried in the mix.

And while we know that CT isn't the best guitarist of all time, he puts his notes well placed here and there. The guitars are really thoughtful too (If I can say it this way) Really great work. Listen to it really loud to notice a lot of small details. And what about Chris's voice now? His vocal chords must had been so used after recording the songs we have heard so far! Collective effort!

admittedly, this song is growing on me quite a bit. TWAIT got more boring, but this is getting better. Lets have that album now!

I love the drums. But that's about it. I know I'm repeating myself. But CS sounds absolutely terrible. And I think it's not even his fault. Why are they using all those vocal effects? He sounds okay in concert..

Also every CT solo sounds the same nowadays.

Such a shame but I can write your comments for you since you are so predictable.....

"This is one of the three worst LIVE songs I've ever heard"

Once the entire album is out you can say you've heard the 11 worst. lol.gif

Finally, when it comes to Shinn, someone who semi-shares my opinion that he sounds awful! I don't even think he sounds good in concert and I'm not making any excuses for him. I say it is his fault. He is a less than average vocalist with no stage presence. I think all three of the songs are really good lyrically and musically, but leave me wishing to hear what they would sound like from someone with a better set of pipes. I guess I'm the Simon Cowell of this board, the realist, while the majority of you must have your fingers crossed behind your back when you say you like his sound. Additionally, this is childish, but I can't stand looking at him either, so I have to minimize You Tube when I listen to the new material. The size of his nostrils irk me, the haircut irks me, his one outfit that he always wears irks me--even though he has seemed to have torn the sleeves off for a slightly different look). Even though Shinn is subpar, I'll continue to listen to support Chad, Chad & Pat.
