Well, I took a listen. Overall, I think the song is decent. I definitely have a greater attraction for this version than that of the acoustic version played months ago. I DO hear some flavors of old +Live+ here and there, which is not necessarily a good or bad thing. It's just that they have a certain style which is recognizable. The instruments (especially Gracey) come out very well, however, I'm still waiting for the 'IT' factor, as the general vibe (to me) keeps with a theme of playing it safe. Then again, I do like The Distance to Here and there were a lot of 'safe' sounding songs on there as well, so...I guess (for this song at least), I'm OK. tongue.gif

While I fully acknowledge that SJN1279 is a troll and will hate anything CCP do, I don't disagree with this statement. I don't like Ed's music, but I'm not a CCP apologist either. The Siren's Call is a great song, but We Open the Door and The Way Around is Through rely far too heavily on a hooky chorus. They get old quickly.

I hope the album is decent, but they aren't wowing with some of these teasers...

yep, not terrible (I don't want to immediately turn it off), but I don't see myself listening to this very much. We need more songs like The Siren's Call!

Yeah, I liked the acoustic version too. I like it more than TWAIT, it is more distinct. However, like TWAIT it is not great.

Completely disagree with this. The song is good, it has a mysterious feel to it - I enjoy it more than TWAIT. I hope the album has more songs like SC than like this one but still the song is melodic and it rocks well, especially towards the end.
