Why can't Live have a song that sounds like that? They were finally totally free in the writing process. And we finally received 2 solid songs. I think it's not too far from TGF for some reasons. Taylor uses way more open tunings now like a lot of the TGF album. That makes Sirens call darker maybe and I can understand the link. It must not be too far anyway, same people involved.

The line after the guitar solo is amazing. Intense! Exactly what was missing from Live all these years. Last time I had these goosebumps was in Where Fishes Go: " I couldn't take anymore, so I went back to the see...

The stuff is so good it brought a tear to my eye today.

I think both sides are getting a little extreme....this is a decent song but I don't know if it's good enough to harken back to TDTH level of quality. I like this song more than TWAT (ha), but I was still way more impressed with TGF album. I am really upset that they seem to have given up with that, it's a really solid album.

I despise Ed as much as the next guy but just wish it was TGF and Live was still on "hiatus".

Live hasn't been relevant since 2000 - for anyone thinking the radio will even play one of these songs, let alone it becoming a hit, is crazy.

I will buy the album the day comes out - all I'm saying is let's temper our expectations a little bit. But we can all agree that it's 100x better than Ed's next single: "Water Flows (A Song About Coffee For My Daughters)"

The fact that it is basically a break up song

Is it a fact that it is a break up song? What do you mean by that?

I like Siren's Call, but I don't think it really sounds much like Live, it sounds like a TGF outtake. The Way Around is Through (which I formally move we call TWAT instead of TWAIT because it's funnier) sounds more line a Live song to me.

I'm trying not to want to hear Ed singing them.

I hear a little bit of the bridge from Don't Wait when Ed says "she ain't what she seems" in the bridge for Siren's call before the solo.

Obviously they can have a song like that, because they do. That doesn't make it SOUND more like Live and less like TGF.

I still like it, just my observation.

The TDTH is a very good album but not outstanding. Half of the songs are great and half are good but poppy - the turn to the wrong direction. The only songs off TDTH that could compete Siren's Call are TDC, Meltdown and the concert version of Where Fishes Go. The rest are miles away.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear the full album, but I pretty much feel the same way about TDTH. It was a turning point for Live. It has some really good songs, but I can't listen to the full album very often. I tried yesterday (first time in a while) and ended up skipping most of it.

FWIW, alternate versions of They Stood Up For Love (Ballad Version) and Sun (Loop Version) are among my favorite Live tracks. Still, MJ, TC, and SS are the only albums I can listen to the whole way through and really enjoy. I doubt I'll be able to add The Turn to that list, but I'm hoping for at least a handful of really solid tracks - and I think the Siren's Call is great.

TDC, Sparkle, WFG, Meltdown, Voodoo Lady and FTQRR (but it is overproduced) are great. The rest are good soft rock songs - and yes, including Run to the Water (i never considered it great).

From what I heard so far I expect The Turn to come 3rd after SS and TC. I am sorry but I do not enjoy MJ much, I can hear the essence of Live but the sound and vocals are very pre-mature, like they are unfinished.

If you listen to the lyrics they definitely imply that this song is about a relationship break-up.

The Distance to Here is my favorite Live album as a whole. The album has a nice mellow flow, and the lyrics are some of my favorites in Live's entire catalog.

I used to consider TDTH Live’s masterpiece but over time I changed my mind, it does not compare to SS and TC. I remember a fan (I am not sure if it is in this forum or elsewhere) who described it as “The Distance to Live”. He/she was absolutely right. It was the first time we moved from “All songs written and performed by Live” to giving credits to separate members of the band, mainly Ed, and it was first time we had soft and more generic rock songs. I think that TDTH was established as a classic Live album years later, when Live produced crappy music in the 2000s.

The find the songs on TDTH much less generic than the two I've heard so far on The Turn.
