I was disapointed at first listen. After a few more tries, I think the song is average.

To me the songs is buried alive from its beginning because of that poor transition between the intro and the first chorus.

You have a 1mn intro (which I've found to be quite long for a radio single...) that ends with an amazing drum work and you really expect something to explode at your face... and then the tempo slows down and all you get is a pretty generic arpegiate chords progression. WTF ??!?

The verses melody kind of reminds me of the Tears For Fears and I found myself able to enjoy it smile.gif
The chorus melody is boring U2.

The bass is great. As always !!

With this song and "We open the door", we already have 2 cheesy tracks out of 11 or 12 (can't remember).

I have nothing against Chris voice. Don't like him singing old Live songs even if I found him to be better than nowadays Ed, but that's just me getting bored of hearing the same old songs again and again and again with nothing new (or nothing decent) coming since 2001... I always need fresh meat.

I've seen that live video of Sirens Call on youtube (from Indianapolis I think) and you can't honestly say that Chris Shinn is a bad singer. He nailed it. That song would have made a way better single.

To me the song is above average. It is good but not great. It reminds me of SS era at times but also of TGF’s solos. Chis’ voice fits well with the song.

We Open the Door is better, it is more melody at least. I find is darker, too.

Though the quality of Siren’s Call, Don’t Run to Wait and 6310 R. is not good i listened to the songs loud. They sound killers.

What is puzzling for me is why Live has chosen The Way Around is Through as their first single. It does not sound like it is their strongest.

I'm excited about the new sound of the band and looking forward to the entire album.

In regards to the single, I get Live - The "WAIT" is a cool play on letters but I'd have to say I'm puzzled by this as the lead single for a new album with a new singer.

I like the other songs I've heard from this album better and I'm looking forward to hearing the studio recordings. To me this will probably be a nice filler song on the album, kind of like Top was on TC.

BTW - here is a live version of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9axADnDoTxM

Agree that the song will be a nice filler. Perhaps the "WAIT" means that this is just a good song, let's wait for the best ones.

Yes, what you just said. I don't mind the temp slow-down you mentioned, I see that as very "Live-ey". But the transition between the first verse and the chorus was my first "what?" moment - like - "did you forget a verse of the song or something?"

FWIW, I really like Chris' vocals. I think it's got a lot of power. Lyrics and song structure - there are your weaknesses on this song. The more I listen the more it grows, but it needs a bit of help.

This is what I would've liked more with regards to the song structure. Excuse the choppy editing, but you get the idea:

This site has a few bad moments. One of those is when people who choose to make a point here actually do so as they are Live experts or rock music specialists. It is annoying when people say “the structure of the song is not good”, “the transition between the verse and chorus is not good”, “the chorus is repetitive”, “i would do this and that” and bla bla bla. I am sorry guys but the song is not a draft or a demo and Live is not looking for your opinion in order to finalise it. The song is final and out there – just say if you like the sound and vocals. If you do not like it that’s fine but please don’t try to sound smart.

This is the difference between this site and whitediscussion.

Who are you to limit the discussion? We're analyzing the song. It's a matter of opinion, not intelligence. FYI, I don't have to try to sound intelligent, I just am. And FYI, I've been a rabid fan for 20 years. I am a Live expert.

I am not limiting anything. I am just critical. I was not referring to you specifically, that’s why I did not reply to you directly. And that’s the problem here, there are too many Live “experts”. Claiming that you are a Live expert or that there is such thing is laughable to say the least simply because the is no Live sound. All albums Live released are distinctly different from each other.

Oh, perhaps this is the way:

A message to Live

“Dear Chad, Chad, Patrick and Chris,

Next time you make a song or an album, please hire all the Live experts at this site. It is the only way you can make good music.”

Understood and I agree on the distinct sound thing, but we may be defining "expert" differently. Most people who still come here know the band enough to be called experts, but that is not to suggest the band should solicit their advice.

Chad Taylor talking about this single over a year ago on FB:

I just heard the best LIVE song I've ever heard. This band is SO re-born. The track is called "Believe Tonight (You Live)" and I'm so excited. Just had to share. Next up...some tracks with Jerry Harrison and Karl Derfler. Never worked so hard but never felt better.

Perhaps it was the best until they wrote better songs. It is good anyway and the best since TDTH, along with Lighthouse and Like I Do.

He called it the best Live song that he has EVER heard, not just the best of the new batch.

I barely posted on here before and this is my first time in a LONG time.

I like the song, actually. You guys are going to think I am crazy, but the first time I listened, when the song kicked in at roughly the one minute mark, it immediately reminded me of the film Rock Star, the scene where Wahlberg auditions. I went back and found that song on YouTube and the arpeggiated chord changes are similar.

Anyway, I actually like this song. Ed sort of became known for big, anthemic choruses, and he has continued some of that solo, so it is hard to get used to something different. But then again, formulaic songwriting isn't exciting either.

The minute long build-up is strange from a radio release perspective, but DJs will likely talk over a lot of that part on terrestrial radio. If you're listening via satellite or Pandora, you're probably likely to give the song time to build.

All in all it is a solid song, but it's not something jaw-droppingly interesting, different, or great to cause people to, ahem, turn their heads. An example of something like that, IMO is a Lankini's Juice. That's not a knock against the song. I have listened to it many times and enjoy it.

This does not tell me much. Perhaps it is the best to him. I disagree. Siren's Call, DRTW and 6310 R. are much better. Live released songs in the past which they might considered as their best such as Lakini's Juice, Freaks and Turn my Head when they had better songs (to me). For example, Heropsychodreamer, Gas Hed, Insomnia and Ghost are superior but they remained unreleased. Iris off TC is phenomenal but it was not a single. So don't try to use Chad's words or preferences in order to objectively classify TWAIT as the best.
