Edit: I watched the video and it has nothing to do with the Amsterdam show. It's a video chock full of new music samples! Definitely requires it's own thread lol.gif

It still doesn't sound like Live to me, but I love what it does sound like, whatever that is.

What for you sounds like Live? I mean, We just can't define the sound of Live for last 10 years because it was more Ed's artistic ideas. It's clearly something that is different from the past 10 plus years, but it sounds like something that could sound like SS with a modern production...maybe a TDTH + SS kind of sound.

I don't think it sounds the slightest bit like TDTH, maybe a little bit like SS.

Ehh....I will buy it and give it a listen of course, but I'd rather have another Gracious Few album. Ed is a d*ck, don't get me wrong.....but Live should have ended and this should be another band. Really enjoyed TGF album, but sadly, it is going to be like Army of Anyone... one and done.

I have a feeling they will be one and done with Shinn too....this reminds me of when Fuel got that douchy singer to replace Brett Scallions....it just didn't work. Chris doesn't seem douchy, but I just have the feeling this is going to flop.

I hope I am wrong.

I don't think he sounds like Ed; I wish Ed sounded closer to that nowadays. The snippets were too short to really tell anything. The jury is still out, but I'm optimistic.

Hearing the snippets did bring to mind a few things:

1) Now I wish they would've abandoned the name "Live". It can have the same vibe or spirit as Live, but I'd say lose the name, drop the Ed-era songs, and go forward. Bring us something truly new, not with one foot (or even a few toes) stuck in the past.

2) As much as I love the passion CS brings to the old Live catalog, they're not his songs. It doesn't feel right. It sounds awesome, but just doesn't feel right (and the "feeling" of it is what I truly consider Live to be)

Doen't sound like Ed at all.

Why would people don't let them do what they want about which songs they perform. I, for one, would have liked more variety and more new songs this summer when they played, but I still have the choice not to go the shows.

It's not only about Shinn, it's about CCP that want to show us how they can play the old tracks how they should be played: with passion, loud and just for the fun to play them. They accepted to play Run away or Call me a fool so many times back then to support Ed, now I guess they have given enough and can choose to play the rockier side of Live.

And yes, I feel the old songs better with Shinn than the way Ed plays some of his somgs now, and the voices are not similar. Ed could never sing Sirens call the way Shinn does.
