I was reading the Live bio on the official site. It looks like they are not acknowledging Songs From Black Mountain as a Live album.

Here is the excerpt where it gets left out:

"Upon release, its 1997 follow-up Secret Samadhi immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went six-times platinum. However, on The Distance to Here in 1999, Live turned into an international powerhouse and jumped from arenas into stadiums all over the globe driven by the smash “The Dolphin’s Cry”. V and Birds of Pray followed, continuing to expand their legacy and satiate the rabid and faithful fan base that they had amassed over nearly two decades.

In 2008, the band initiated a hiatus, and Taylor, Gracey, and Dahlheimer founded The Gracious Few alongside Candlebox’s Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy. The project’s self-titled debut would go on to enjoy critical acclaim as they became a live draw in their own right."

I've always viewed SFBM as Ed's first solo album because the band is on record that they had no input and basically showed up to play their parts. Sounds like the band might agree with that line of thought.

The bio also says that the hiatus started in 2008, where it actually started in 2009.

Who's to say it did not actually start earlier than initially up published? I also don't consider SFBM a Live album. Like most fans, I consider it a joke.

Live was still touring during 2008 and through part of 2009. How can a band be touring and on hiatus at the same time?

I think its more likely that someone just did an incredibly bad job on the write-up rather than taking the leap that the band isn't acknowledging that the album happened.

I don't see how that goes on the official band site without someone from the band reviewing it. The wrong year plus the absence of the album seems completely intentional to me.

you're mentally challenged.

it said "LIVE" on the cover of 'Songs from Black Mountan' not Ed Kowalczyk.

they performed 'Mystery' on Amerian Idol as the band Live.

the entire band profited off the sales of 'Songs from Black Mountain'.

bands don't get to pick and choose which albums they deem worthy of mentioning based on sales and popularity.

To deny the band was not mentally checked out at that time would be ignorant. Ed had already started on his downward spiral.

The hiatus was in 2009.
SFBM is a Live album.

It's possible that the person who wrote the information was incorrect, and it was posted without the band's knowledge.

Or, the band decided to omit facts and change their bio.

I can understand that some people might not think it is a big deal to have inaccurate information. Others might find it to be tacky or deceitful.

But the bio certainly is not entirely truthful.

It's by far the worst album any of them have ever produced.

If they omitted any other album, I'd think maybe it was a mistake. But omitting SFBM? Which we all know was basically by Ed?

I think it was intentional. And I don't blame, them, either. If I had nothing to do with it and disliked the quality of it, I wouldn't want my name on it.

Excellent point. It's not a mistake.

I do think they should write SFBM in their bio, good or not. Chad T. Explained how it was recorded and that he just did the parts he was told too. That's a mistake of CCP to let Ed take control for THAT particular record. They should live with it and still write that album there, because they were touring in 2008-09.
