Just saw and heard some clips from the show. Chris rocked hard and it was better than anything the previous Live did in concert over their last 10 years or so.

Despite spending thousands on promotions/contest for the show, it was the first Live show at the HOB Atlantic City that didn't sell out. They also only booked one solo headline show for 2013 with the intent of filling the venue and failed to do so.

A Throwing Copper reunion tour with Ed was the way to go.....

So which is it?

On one hand you say that CCP are deceiving fans by not making it more clear that Ed isn't in the band. I believe you've even referred to Facebook comments of people confusing Chris with Ed.

Now on the other hand you're implying that sales were lower than desired because Ed wasn't in the lineup.

Well, which way is it? You can't have it both ways to suit your argument. Either the majority if fans know Ed has been replaced or they don't.

Casual fans didn't know ed wasn't there, but many hardcore fans knew that ed was gone and they stayed home.

Wow, yeah, people did not like thay opening band at all. And the band has already deleted several posts from their facebook saying stuff about how it sucked without ed. and they have blocked severeal people again as well for speaking out. Nick is right, most people stayed home. No way it would have sold out.

I actually thought the show was going to be a sell out. They announced it 3 months early, cut the ticket prices down, and spent thousands on FB adds. They also didn't schedule any other shows and pushed fans hard to see this special one time performance of Throwing Copper by Live. They also hit up WMMR radio and had a big article in an Atlantic City publication.

Back in 2005-2009, Live would play Starland Ballroom and HOB Atlantic City back to back and sell out both venues with minimal promotion. If CCP and had rejoined with Ed for a Throwing Copper show at HOB Atlantic City, it would have been a very easy sell out.

They wouldn't be the first musicians to co exist on stage for a tour without being fond of each other offstage. At the end of the day it just business. If their goal for 2013-2014 is nostalgia, they should do it right.

Expecting them to just drop Chris and return to doing what clearly wasn't working is ridiculous. And the conditions now are 1000 times worse as far as their relationship. But yeah, good idea. facepalm.gif

Live with Chris, doesn't draw as well as Live with Ed. They spent thousands promoting their first headlining show near their homebase( a venue that Live sold out 3 times from 2005-2009), and didn't fill it. As they continue on, and more people discover that Live replaced Ed with a new singer, attendance will only get worse.

They are taking the brand that they built over 20 years, and slowly killing it.

Small-ish venue in any case. We're talking negligible numbers here if this show wasn't sold out. Live is not a big draw no matter who is in front. There is too much red tape for Ed to have been singing at that show. Not a realistic option.

2400 is a larger mid-sized venue. A proper reunion show would have been a definite sell out. In 2009, Live filled Starland, HOB AC, and HOB Boston the same weekend without expensive FB promotion behind them.
