both sides are cashing in on the feud now that they're separated. He's trying to bolster his own act by bring Live down, authenticating himself by saying he wrote 90% of Live's music. Perfect timing with the controversial comments, his new album just dropped.

I think outside of this message board, about 5 people know Ed's new album is out.

Wait, so you are calling eds new band a cover band yet shinn singing his songs is not? OMG i can't even... lol.gif Who's the cover band again? YES, let's be honest.
yahoo.gif thumbsup.gif

I don't think calling either of them a cover band is a fair assessment. Ed wrote songs, he still wants to perform them, I have no problem with that. I know some people think of this as "cashing in" on his success with Live, but really, not a lot of people care enough about Live in 2013 for that to matter.

Also, when a band gets a new lead singer, the new lead singer learns the old songs. That's just a fact. They aren't a new band, they are Live with a new singer. That's also not a cover band. I would add, however, that they do need to produce new material. If they didn't do that, and all they ever do is have Chris sing Ed's songs, it may not be a "cover band" per se but I am not quite sure what that would be.

he's got his fb fans and the ppl who see him in concert.....even though its a small crowd they still feed off his resentment and it adds to the story behind the music, and it goads and alerts ccp fans to the new album

it is a heritage/legacy/nostalgia festival support act with a new singer right now, but it's a good starting point, good practice.

I didn't mean to imply that I had a problem with what Live is doing right now. But ultimately, they need to shift to new material for them to have any legitimacy in my eyes.

I agree mfitz. I also feel they are taking too long and that it will cost them.
I would love to see them get as sucsessful as ed has been solo but sometimes people just get tired of waiting. I was hoping to see something great from them but it doesn't look too promising. I mean, do some videos of what's happening, put some more snippets, etc.. ANYTHING.

They aren't taking to long. It's only been a couple years since the Gracious Few, and they got a new lead singer, went on tour and started the new album from scratch. That takes a while.

Maybe not to you but too a lot of others.

I kind of lose interest after a while.

Another band i love just took 5 years for a new cd and all it is is a redone and mastered cd they already made and b sides people already had. Very upsetting. lol

In Utero?

Songwriting and inspiration has no time limit. It can happen in minutes or years. Recording and producing can take forever. Managing an album release can take a long time. It's only been a couple years. It would be unreasonable to prod the band to speed up the release date, especially since they just got done with the tour and have been in the studio working. They've been on top of it well enough.

You're not telling me anything about music and how long it takes that i don't already know.
The thing with this band however...dif story. For months and months there was the hype up of how great they were going to be. What happened is all i'm wondering.

Absolutely true and well said. Nevermind explaining it over and over again, some just don't understand anything about making music and just want to hear easy music as fast as it can, no matter what the quality is. That's oke. I just wait patiently on the next release of LIVE, wheter it's gonna take another year or 10.

That's different. Before, you only said they were taking too long. The hype regarding their greatness was mostly from CCP fans, Chad's hype is actually a mixed bag. He says he likes Live personally, and that he doesn't know what to expect but that they're trying their best. He tells people at the shows that the album might never come out, and they might not tour again. It's all just to make fans focus on their current tour.

So what's happened? They announced the band, and then went on tour, still on tour. Some would say that a tour is the real deal and an album isn't the best form of the art. Maybe they're only best at playing old material. Now they're working in the studio. Standard hype, standard time table.
