How do you know it didn't end the way they wanted?

Because OuttoDry tried to bury all knowledge of the lawsuit after months and months of crowing about it.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Sep 12 2013, 7:21 pm) *

If a songwriter thinks that another artists playing of the songs he wrote is less authentic, I don't see the hypocrisy. That's his opinion of whats most important about the songs. Without CCP the style of Live wouldn't be as great, but without Ed the songs don't even exist.

What does that have to do with CCP playing Ed's songs even though they think "he's a disgrace"?

I can get behind Ed feeling that someone else playing the songs they didn't write as less than authentic, but to declare the complete track as "Ed's Songs" is a bit unfair. Again, Ed did NOT write and compose all music and every sound of Live in the early years. Even Harrison is responsible for some of that sound.

What specifically did Out To Dry try to do? Bury knowledge and fail to come here and gloat and dance are two very different things.

There were multiple points to the suit, not just one point. It's nonsense to suggest that because someone (one who wouldn't have even been present at the deliberations) failed to come and gloat that CCP didn't get a settlement on any of the points. Did they get settlement on ALL of them, probably not, but that's the nature of filing claims and negotiations. You always go in over what you want so you have room to compromise and settle.

We know CCP got what they wanted regarding Ed's billing himself as "of Live".

Since Nick is so much in the know, what piece of magic produced by Camp Ed forced the motion for dismissal?

Then, as has been pointed out, due to branding/imaging there always non-disclosure clauses.

For CCP to "lose", they would have had to have lost every sticking point. For Ed to "win" he would have had to win on every sticking point. The reality is that there likely was a compromise and a settlement somewhere in between.

Could it be that CCP asked him to stop discussing it publicly especially since he moderates their official fan site and forum you twit? He moved on. Maybe you should too.

Well, we KNOW they didn't win shit because the clan would have been all over this place like flies on shit and that didn't happen. pfffttttttttt

And having some other person sing them with no emotion, passion or even really giving a fuck what he is singing about is fair? STFU. It's a discrace to the man and yes, HIS songs.

Chad's lack of discretion is what has caused the divide in the Live community for the past 4 years...if he was a professional and get kept his view of Live's dirty laundry to himself, these insufferable conversations wouldnt exist

I highly doubt it. Before the whole Ed thievery, we all knew that Ed's actions in the band led to their downfall. Between his shitty music writing and suddenly finding Jesus, that divided the fan base well in advance.

It alienated the fan base. He did a complete 180. Fans kept going straight and Ed went the other direction. He'll be lucky to sell 5,000 records.

I don't personally. Some obsess over it. The point is his lack of relevance in the music industry proves he's made some pretty shitty decisions regarding the direction of his music over the last 15 years or so.

fair enough, tough to argue with that...SFBM was really bad, Alive had its moments but was mostly forgettable...really like the new CD though
