That is a huge dick move. Serious case of lead singer syndrome.

have any of you ever written a song or been in a band? If one songwriter brings the songs to the band, and the rest of the band learns the songs and bring their style to the mix, and the songwriter gives the rest of the band 50% credit, that's pure generosity from the singer/songwriter.

Have you been in a band? How does a songwriter with an acoustic guitar somehow create the bass, drum, and lead? Does the chord progression of Lightning Crashes somehow write the drum parts? Not to dismiss the main melody or vocal melody, but you can't just slap on a bass line that follows the melody with a lazy drum track and have a successful song. It just doesn't work that way.

Back on subject, the band went from great success to below mediocrity with SFBM, guess Ed owns all of that then?

Ed can say whatever his douchey brains tells his mouth to say but how the royalties are split answers everyone's question about just how much Ed contributed to the music.

Ed's fault for being a bad businessman! kicking.gif

Or CCP's fault for taking advantage of a contract and not contributing to the songwriting process more than they did.

What they did was in their best interest and their wallets. Perfectly legal. Ed got screwed and he's going to have to live with it and shut his big mouth.

Yep, I was in bands, wrote songs, have copyrighted material, even took a few industry classes in undergrad in New York. There's no doubt that CCP's role was vital to the success, but most of the time the singer/songwriter's role is just more substantial, not just by industry standards, because that person is the inspired vessel or the source of the song! And when you write a song, often times it feels like it's your baby, and you want to share it with the world, and you want to covet it. Other times you just wonder how the inspiration came to you, and you feel like it's almost out of your hands. With very few exceptions do the non-writers become just as valuable or more valuable to the music. Yes, Ed's shittier albums are on Ed as well as singer/songwriter, even more so since the other guys didn't have as much input.

Ed must be suffering from short term memory loss. The last 12 years or so he should take the credit for because it mostly sucked and it was his. Now back to when LIVE was making great music, it was a collaboration and that is why it was so great.

Yes I'm in a band. I write every single song for my band as well. But I give myself 50% of writing and my band get the rest because they write bass and drums parts and we all share melodies for vocals. Are drummer writes the lyrics. So ed saying 90% and his Solo songs sucking. He did not write 90% of old live

Awwww Nick that is so sweet, Ed does love you hearts.gif hearts.gif hearts.gif inlove.gif

Ed Kowalczyk (Ed K.) Nick, you were witness to all of it and I thank you for everything you have done to help me as well. They used the legal system to persecute me for absolutely nothing for almost 4 years. Not to mention the countless derogatory things that were said about me online and otherwise for even longer. I still feel that the high road is the best road but you're right, the BS is behind me (until they sue me again for God knows what) and it's time to set some of the record straight. There were and are currently many outright lies that are being presented to the fans, not the least of which is the totally counterfeit and falsely advertised version of "Live" they are promoting. I will clear up confusion when I can, and in my chosen time and place. Thanks again and enjoy the new music and tour!!!

Yeah I think this was a bad move by Ed to make that comment. I believe him about the song writing but I think he should have been the bigger man about it and stay quiet. The new song "Parasite" is aimed at Chad right?
