That is what originally thought but I'm betting it includes the bonus track.

I am shocked - a few of those tracks actually sound like rock songs! I don't really care for most of what I hear right now but these tracks sound like they have potential:

Parasite
Take Me Back
Supernatural Fire

These songs actually sound different from what he did on Alive or The Garden. It really depends on the lyrics and the complete version of the songs.

I'll also throw out a consideration for Watchman's Lament, it could have some potential as a decent song too.

Hey guys, just want to say I love the new song "Seven". I've listened to it many times already, its usually on repeat in my car. The song is darker than the recent stuff and very catchy. I think its better than most tracks on Alive, these are my favorites in order from Ed:

Drive
Seven
The Great Beyond
Grace
I'm the Proof
Garden
Soul Whispers
Just in Time

I cant freaking wait to hear the new album! I know "The One" sounds great live, hope the studio version has the same energy.

To the poster above, where can I find the radio edit for Seven? Thanks.

Dangum...I preordered from Amazon Germany. Ships on September 6. Two editions are available. The deluxe set includes the Garden Ep on a second disc. I purchased this one. Including postage it came to 23 euros..roughly $34 Australian.

ROFL, I didn't even realize the religious associactions with that name. "Crossed" was a really cool comic book I was reading way back when I signed up. I'm not religious at all, been a fan of Ed since Throwing Copper.

I too get somewhat annoyed with the overuse of Christian lyrics. Back on topic:

Have you guys head the chorus on "Bottle of Anything"?, I think that could be a hit. When on that preview site, click "view in iTunes" to get a way longer preview for all the songs.

The tracks not that bad.

1) It most certainly isn't rock (or rawk) music. Just isn't.
2) As most things from him lately, I think the song was better acoustically.
3) He had some semi-aggressive vocal dynamic, which is something he was always good at
4) The Christian lyrics still suck ass

One of the better things he's done since going solo, IMO. Still a shadow of a shadow of his former self....

I think this is a song that could have a lot of potential, but it doesn't "sound" right to me. All of the instruments and Ed's voice just seem to be flattened together.

Is the acoustic version available somewhere?

I've spoken to a few music production experts about this and they agree this is the case. What they believe is happening is Ed records the vocals separately from the instrumental track. As you could guess, it's hard for a track to sound cohesive and blended together properly when it is recorded and produced this way.

Allegedly, the same thing happened during production of SFBM. Which is also why most fans fan something was "off" about the tracks and overall sound. Take what you want from it, but it appears Ed wants the studio all to himself during recording sessions.

I would be shocked if Ed's vocals are not done separately on the vast majority of Live tracks. You're implying Ed traditionally nails the vocals in just a few takes, and that the whole band would play along with his vocal tracks...no way. Espcially since on all albums since TC there has been tons of harmonizing of Ed's voice, even some of the harmonizing is barely audible just to add thickness.

Punching in vocals is often times way easier than trying to get the whole band to do a perfect performance. It's almost necessary to record this way to make a track sound perfectly blended and cohesive, because you can manipulate the tracks more easily. When you record a full band live, there's always the nuisance of tracks bleeding together, and inconsistency amongst the players.

But yeah, ever since the loudness wars in the late 90's, the trend is that recordings have become flat and less dynamic, with a big wall of sound.
