Ed Kowalczyk - The Flood and The Mercy, Ed's 2nd solo album due Fall 2013 Options

Right, what surprises me is that Peter Buck actually signed up for something like this. There is a guitar line at the end of the song that reminds of the rhythm in REM's "world leader pretend" - very similar melody.

Other than that, what can I say - same old Ed. Nothing new. I don't what should happen in this man's life to make him change his musical style. It's the end of the world as we know it.

The tracks not that bad.

1) It most certainly isn't rock (or rawk) music. Just isn't.
2) As most things from him lately, I think the song was better acoustically.
3) He had some semi-aggressive vocal dynamic, which is something he was always good at
4) The Christian lyrics still suck ass

One of the better things he's done since going solo, IMO. Still a shadow of a shadow of his former self....

Where do you (or anyone else) disagree with my list of songs that he's released that are better?

Looking back at it I think I could also add Eat Your Love to the list. It's not horrible - but it's not rawk, it's not single worthy, and it's not even close, by far, to one of his best songs as a solo artist.

I can respect your opinion, but I personally don't see how it sounds any better than the songs you cut.

Personally, the more I listen to it the more annoying Seven becomes. I just hope there's better stuff on the album.

I've given the track a few more spins as suggested and I really wish I could erase it from my audio memory. There's actually something really creepy about the way he sings and sounds now. I've had some friends and other casual friends tell me the same thing.

I think it shows a darker, more personal side of Ed. It has lyrics that people can identify with and it sounds good with both full band and acoustic. Do I think it will be a huge hit in the US, not likely, but I think the album will do well overseas in Holland.

The way he sings the lyrics are cringe-worthy. Plus the lyrics are not good and too transparent much like most of the music he's written since the SS/TDTH area.

To each their own. I actually prefer the radio edit of Seven to the album version, but I enjoy both. Hopefully their is a more formal announcement regarding the album soon.

Hey guys, just want to say I love the new song "Seven". I've listened to it many times already, its usually on repeat in my car. The song is darker than the recent stuff and very catchy. I think its better than most tracks on Alive, these are my favorites in order from Ed:

I cant freaking wait to hear the new album! I know "The One" sounds great live, hope the studio version has the same energy.

According to Amazon, the album is due for release on October 29, 2013.

Is anybody planning to order it from a European store earlier? Are there any recommended stores?
