That said, I think CCCP are going to do fine because they have the rights to use the Live name(but well under the days where Ed was fronting the band).

Again success based on sales....

The crowd of most of the shows (if not all from July) was more than decent. They really seem to enjoy the lineup as I really was surprised myself by Filter's performance.

Shinn really seemed to enjoy this tour as a lead singer and was also very thankful to the reaction of the crowd. He looked humble, knowing of course he didn't write these songs, but he gave them justice. Let me show this version from Ed of LJ not later than 10 days ago. I think that he looks more like a cover of himself with his backing musicians than what Shinn is doing with CCP. Look for yourself....Ed began the show already naked... no.gif

I was at the show, and it was one of the more fun shows that I have ever attended. Lakini's Juice was the first song of the encore not the first song of the night.

Ed isn't touring as Live with new 3 musicians, he is touring as Ed Kowalczyk and playing new material and all the songs from Live that he wrote(something CCCP can't say).

I firmly believe that Live with Ed could have toured solo and outdrawn Summerland. What else can you base Summerland on? Live played the hits that Ed wrote with someone trying to sing Ed's parts. There was nothing original or creative about the tour(same goes for the Throwing Copper show in AC later this year).

Of course Live with a raw voice of Ed could still bring people to the shows. It is not what we have anymore and I guess that we are all ok with that now. Summerland was not the fail that some people expected at first. All the 4 bands are part of it.

And I'm bored of the comparisons between the material released by Ed vs CCCP. Useless. CCP and even Chriss have other things. Ed is more focused on the music, does more show overall but he isn't in the business industry like the others. And this also I have accepted that. One quality record (that we got with The Gracious Few) for Live and the wait will will have been worth it.

I prefer the current Live lineup than the lineup with Ed since at least 2003 and it is sad it's that way, but the Summerland tour proved it.

(Sorry for the mistake with Lakini's Juice)

Live used to be one of the top mid level touring bands of the 90's(well above the likes of Everclear, Sponge, Filter). With one tour, they took they lowered the band.

Now I believe they could fill HOB AC by using the Throwing Copper name, Chris Shinn's money on ads, and a lot of comps. However, long term, I think they are going to destroy the Live name and the brand they built over the past 20 years.

The Live name was decimated by Ed's actions and thievary. They brought Chris Shinn in to repair that and rebuild the name. They are well on their way to do that.

I agree 100%.

Listen to Shinn do Iris on the Summerland tour. That's how that song is supposed to be sang.
Sure, it's not Ed of '97 but again, that man is long gone.

I'll take Shinn on vocals if they play the ballsy stuff on stage.

No kidding. That Ed no longer exists and Live moved on. It only took about ten years to do but it was definitely the right decision.

I just did. His performance is very by the numbers and dull. He also forgot the lyrics at one point. Chad Taylor's background vocals are horrendous to boot. (Check out Chad's vocals at about the 2:07 mark.....they'll make you cringe).
