Summerland 2013: Alternative Guitars/Subpar Vocals

Summerland 2013 with Ed in the lineup like you lobbied for: The best tour ever in the history of tours.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Apr 20 2013, 9:19 pm) *

IMO that sounds like Ed belongs in the lineup.

I've seen Ed Kowalczyk and Art Alexakis on tour together, Art can't touch Ed vocally and he admits it.

Ed still has a powerful, distinct voice in concert. Summerland is a nostalgia tour. If Live wanted to do a nostalgia tour where they just played their hits, they probably should have brought back the original singer who wrote and performed the songs in the first place(and headlined the tour instead of just being Art Alexakis' opening act).

You just sound bitter that Live is on the tour and not Ed. You lobbied for Ed. When he didn't get it and Live did you bad mouthed the tour and anyone associated with it. Par for the course.

I think Ed solo on Summerland with the rest of the current Summerland line-up would be a very weak line-up for the tour as well(actually it would be weaker because Ed couldn't use the name Live). However, Ed back with Live would make the line-up much stronger and make Live the headliners of the tour(albeit with weaker supporting acts than last years tour).

The tour is not about the biggest band, just like any festival tour. In this case it's Art's tour and he'd be headlining no matter what. Any speculation about what would happen with Ed would require an entire rewriting of what has transpired since 2009. Best you take your own advice and move on.

And that is the major problem with Summerland. Art's ego is too large to include a band on the bill that will overshadow his own.

It's not about the biggest band or who sings better. Live has been out of the scene for quite a while and has not remained connected to their fans the way Everclear or Filter has.

Live can outdraw Everclear or Filter easily in concert. Everclear and Filter were never the caliber of headlining acts that Live were. I believe that a moderately hyped proper Live reunion tour could draw as well(or better) than Summerland with this line-up could.

It's not about what they could draw 15 years ago either. Why don't you take your own advice and move on?

Nick is highly incapable of taking his own advice. It's what defines him as the Live/Ed troll.

Live was able to fill venues in 2009 that Everclear and Filter could never fill. I remember seeing Everclear play Starland Ballroom to a half full house, and Filter play a free show in the same venue(and not sell out). Live routinely filled that same venue from 2005-2009 and usually had an overcrowded sell out at the venue up until their hiatus.

Wrong. Live 2009 could not outdraw Everclear of The 90s. Live 2013 could not outdraw Summerland. Live of 90s could outdraw Summerland. That was my point. But, like I said its not about that. It's not about any stupid hypothetical point you are making. It's a festival. It's Art's tour. They headline. They all get similar sets so it hardly matters to anyone but you, a non fan.
