I know you've said that before. I feel the same way about Shinn, and it seems CCP are way out of practice.

I do not like being involved in this kind of discussions but i really need to say this: arguing that the Beauty of Gray, for example, shows that Chris cannot perform Live songs and that CCP are out of practice proves to me that you just bash Live for the sake of it.

Exactly, Beauty of Gray to me, above all the others was fucking flawless, that was as good as Ed has ever done, including 90s Ed. It just sounded right without it being "oooh yeah the beauty of gray yeah child oh lawd!"

Chris is performing these songs closer to the way the were intended than Ed has done in a long, long time. It's just the truth. At times perhaps he tries to replicate Ed's original delivery too much but as he continues to perform these songs he'll find the perfect way to perform Live songs with his personal spin. I like some of the different things he added to the songs and I hope he really just lets it go and has no inhibitions about doing his thing. The new song was a bit of a change of pace for me. I preferred more of the gravelly delivery on the Live songs but it wasn't a bad song. Overall the sound quality was just OK and I don't think it was intended to go over as some high quality national broadcast. In the context of the event it was perfect. Sure wish I could have been there.

So I guess we're not going to get a reunited band for the 20th anniversary of Throwing Copper next year?

I hope it never happens. The Live ship sank with Ed at the helm.

It is taking years for CCP to get anything substantial moving without Ed. Like it or not, Ed was the driving force behind Live. There is no reason that Live's album isn't ready to go for the summer tour this year. CCP need someone focused on the music business to work with them for things to happen(Ed or Kevin Martin)

It's not like they've been busy or anything. facepalm.gif Plus, I bet they're waiting to record in their new studio when it's done. Just a guess. That would be pretty cool.

I have to disagree greatly. Better than Ed in the last 5 years? Maybe. Better than the original? Not even close. "Fucking flawless"? Not sure what it was you were listening to.

Ed at any point in his career blows Chris Shinn out of the water. Shinn has a very limited vocal range and looks downright uncomfortable on stage.

I also believe that Ed's vocals are much stronger now than they were in the early/mid 2000's.

I think they sounded good and will only sound better with time and better chemistry. Yes, it's different but not in a bad way.

It's better than the psycho-religious light pop stuff Ed was putting out with the band. I'm glad he went in a new direction because it fits him well but it doesn't fit Live. It's the best of both worlds for everyone involved with the original band.

Thought it was funny that Taylor told Chris to "pick any songs you want, we know them all."

Looking forward to hearing the new album. I hope it's a great addition to the Live library. I'm not expecting the second coming of SS or TC - If it's better than everything from post TDTH I'll be happy.

Also hopeful that the tour includes a local stop that I can make.
