I wonder if live is going to be on Summerland tour 2013. A summer tour from June to august, and art alexakis can.get the live name to help sell tickets and still headline because ed isn't there.

A summary of Chad's speech.

QUOTE
Live shares memories, new music at York’s Strand-Capitol
Posted on March 1, 2013 by Erin McCracken

Check out the debut of Live’s new single, tentatively titled “World”

During his speech Thursday to announce Think Loud’s plans for a fiber-optic network, Live guitarist Chad Taylor shared some anecdotes from the band’s past. He said that York has been the epicenter for cultural and artistic movements, citing the Articles of Confederation, which were drafted in the city that would become a hub for music in future centuries.

On Live’s inspiration: Taylor said that the original members had a debate about what type of band they were going to be. He added that Pat Dalheimer and the bassist’s older brother turned the group on to punk rock. Taylor also cited U2′s “The Unforgettable Fire” as a big influence.

On the big break: Taylor said that Live played New York City’s underground music hotspot CBGB about 150 times. It’s where Joey Ramone, Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads saw and connected with the group. “Live’s music didn’t sound at all like punk rock, but it was birthed from the very same place,” Taylor said.

Spreading the word: When Live formed in the mid-80s in York, social networking was done by word-of-mouth, Taylor said. He added that he used to spend hours designing posters for Public Affection — the band which would become Live. While posting them at William Penn Senior High School, Taylor said he was chased off the school grounds by the principal.

Landing fame: Taylor said the band’s videos got into rotation on MTV’s “120 Minutes.” He joked that it aired midnight Sundays — a time when no one should have been watching. During a recent visit to Los Angeles, Taylor said he revisited some of Live’s old stomping grounds out West, including the less-than-luxurious Phoenix Motel. It was there that Taylor said Live befriended another up-and-coming ’90s act — Nirvana.

Up next: Taylor said that for 27 years, Live has been reaching out reached to make personal connections through music. Those connections have been with fans, other musicians, charitable causes and world leaders. He said Live’s new venture with United Fiber and Data — to build an East Coast network — continues the goal of connectivity. The band is also continuing work on a new album (check out a single above) and plans to tour in June.

Read more about Live and check out photos from the event. Check the jump for a video of hip-hop Violinist Damien Escobar.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks for sharing these historic vids, the first broadcast of Live 2.0 yahoo.gif

Sorry to hear if people have been passing these off as their own - so fair enough about the watermark. Though I trust you've kept the original uncompressed rip for posterity's sake thumbsup.gif

Did you receive permission from the band to record and post their live stream?

Good for them, but he does tend to over-hype things.

Most of the rest of the building is slated to become the headquarters for a technology company that Think Loud CEO Bill Hynes once compared to the caliber of companies like Apple and Google.

Hey Nick. Go f yourself. You complain about everything. Ya know, I dont know where you get your shitty attitude from. Heck, your dad the mayor....YEAH he likes us, and even signed our resolution allowing us to go through his town! So no, I didnt over hype anything!

Keep supporting a piece of crap who stole from his bandmates. THAT IS A FACT.

QUOTE(dangum @ Mar 1 2013, 9:06 am) *

Here's my take on the lyrics of "World" taken from The Strand recording.
There are a few lyrics I couldn't make out. Corrections are welcome.

World.

We open the door and it's as real as it seems
Are we really, really here?
If we are the eyes, we might as well stay closed
Even if all we're seeing is the black and the white, the blood in the sky
Let's lift each other, while we're still alive

Now!
We do this right now
Believe this right now
We start living our lives now

We planted our seeds
Head our steel to the sky
Made ten thousand years of mistakes
Relying on gold, our faith is all we had
And when I touch you, here in this room
Feeling consumed, you rescue me and I rescue you

Now!
We do this right now
Believe this right now
We start living our lives now
It ends tonight now
We'll make this right now
We'll ???? this feeling burning inside now

I won't leave you
I won't leave you here in this room
Feeling consumed, you rescue me and I rescue you

Now!
We do this right now
Believe this right now
????
Now!
It ends tonight now
Oh we'll make this right now
While we're still alive
????

Oh we heal the sky, no longer fly
We don't need a reason, we don't need a number
We're already there, we're already there
Oh this is when we'll keep ???? inside

Now
Now
Now

It ends tonight now
We'll make this right now
We start living our lives now

Some fixes for some of the lines above.

my eyes will stay closed
We planted a seed
Stacked our steel to the sky
were lying on gold

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the company(outside of its awful name). It just isn't anywhere near the level of a google or an apple, and it isn't fair to compare it to that. You should have called it an emerging tech company and left it at that.

First of all Nick, That wasnt my quote. The reporters tend to hear and write what they want to.

The question she asked was "What do you think the economic impact will be to the communities" My answer was "Prior to Google, Apple, Yahoo, Microsoft ever went to their respective cities, look at what they were and then look at how they impacted those areas. They not only created jobs within those companies they created jobs for other companies that were created to support them such as restaurants and other retail establishments, so I think the potential to have a huge impact is definitely there"

Please give our regards to your father. He understands what we are trying to accomplish and we appreciate his support for our project. I am sure if he knew you supported an absolute thief he would be ashamed.
As for Ed and his music you cant discount what he has done or his past. The body of work speaks for itself. And Just as Sammy Hagar would go on to make his own stamp on Van Halen, so too will Chris with +LIVE+ I have heard the new tunes and they are amazing.

I dont understand your negativity toward any of our companies. All we do is help people and give back to the communities in which we invest.
I really do wish Ed the best. He put on a good show at Mt. Pocono the last time I saw him.

Sounds like those who are waiting for an angry-type rock album will be disapointed.

If you want to enjoy the new CD, you should just left old +LiVe+ behind.
It's part of the 90's. It's over. It's done. Not dead, but part of the past. Good memories.

I'll take Live 2.0 as a brand new band, like I did with TGF.
I don't want to hear +LiVe+ covers in concert. I want to hear new material. Whatever if Chris Shinn doesn't sound like Ed. I don't care. I just want to hear great music.

I'm not particulary good at giving an opinion about a song with only one listen or two...

Like it's already been said before, that new song is ok. For some reason, I want to listen to it over and over again. It's a good thing. I'm getting used to (or making an habit of... not sure of how to say it ?) Chris Shinn's voice (in a positive way).

Let's wait for the whole album and see.

Alright, I've listened to the songs a few times.

First of all, I do miss early 90's Live with Ed. He had a truly unique passion and voice, which created a very special sound. That's what I fell in love with but it died somewhere between here and the distance to there.

As far as finding a replacement I think Chris sounds good. I actually really liked how he sounded on All Over You, Selling The Drama, and Beauty of Grey. He does a good job performing those songs. I saw them do Freaks somewhere online before and that also sounded good. I think in concert they will do fine playing the old stuff.

In regards to the new song I really like the opening guitar and drums - sound good. Lyrically it's different from anything Live has done (don't think I heard any mention of water!).

Vocally, I'd have to say there was a huge difference in how Chris sang the old Live songs and how he sang World. To me his voice totally changed and World sounded very similar to the Unified Theory stuff.

I have an idea, but can anyone answer Chad T's question - "Chris, what's this song about?"

As far as the video is concerned, who cares. It was part of a live stream and the songs were performed by the band. It's available to anyone on the internet now. Just be happy with today's technology that we can all here them. facepalm.gif

I've had a few listens of the song now and it has grown on me. At first I didn't really know what to think, I didn't not like it, I guess I just expected something a little more hard. This song sounds a little more modern which is something else that I wasn't expecting. I guess The Gracious Few kind of formed some of my expectations and Live is yet another direction sonically. That being said, this song is really damn good. I'm still not digging Chris's false at the end of the song but I'm probably being too critical. Can't wait to hear the rest.

As for the rest of the show, Chris today blows current Ed away singing the songs that Ed made famous. It's not even close. From a technical perspective I think Chris probably makes more, for the lack of better word, mistakes but the passion, the register, the delivery, is all way better than what Ed would be doing if he performed in that show. Not trying to get into a Live vs Ed thing, but it's inevitable with the first few shows Chris does to think "What if it was Ed" thoughts.
