Maybe I got the first generation ones....cd quality does go down after each generation dub.
I'm not saying they're the best live discs but Kevin had a ripped vocal chord in these shows.

I've got the one where KM lets the dude sing the chorus of Crying Time - Ohio?. Worth every cent for the laugh! Does anyone know who that guy is?

haha I don't think generations have any bearing on it, that and I got mine straight away too. I'm not gonna be like Nick and defend and protect everything at every turn; I'll separate myself from him by being able to be unbiased and call a spade a spade when it isn't right.

The recordings were absolutely dreadful, and it was a shame it was at a time when KM was having vocal problems. This is just one venture that was a wonderful idea, but terribly executed and had everything working against it. I think I also just have a low tolerance for recordings that aren't amazing and these didn't get a pass mark. But oh well, what's done is done!

Ok I can agree with you that we can disagree. I've played them on my sound system and they're not as dreadful as you say, at least those 2 shows

Digging my heels in on this one, they're pretty dreadful, sound systems don't change original recordings tongue.gif

The bootleg of the Ohio show is still better than these ones, amateur bootlegs shouldn't be better than pro recordings. I also bought a show from the same group who did the Pixies gig I went to here at the same time I bought the TGF shows and the quality on that is pretty terrible to, so I just think the company themselves are just not great.

My Seattle show is absolute shit. I could not make it through more then a couple of songs. Great idea just poor execution.

I'm really confused by those who are saying the Seattle show is shit. Are you talking about the quality of the recording or the quality of the performance?

My copy of this show sounds awesome. Everything is clear, the mix is fairly decent (vocal may be a bit loud in the mix for my tastes). I've listened to a lot of audience bootlegs in my time and if this is one, it must have been done with the best recorder on earth. It seems to be soundboard to me, I'm no expert but I have zero issues with this recording.

What are you all saying is bad about it? Maybe a little something more descriptive than "its shit".

Both the quality of the recording and the quality of the performance, at least vocally due to KM's vocal problems on that part of the tour.

It's a very weak recording, at times instruments lost in the mix, bass mostly is very weak. Lots of fade ins/outs. At times it sounds like it's been recording from the bottom of a well. If it were an audience recording I'd say it's not bad, but for a "professional" recording I wouldn't give it a pass mark.

But some people have a much higher tolerance for quality of recording than I do, I just struggle to listen to it if I wouldn't classify it at least an A-/B+ level recording. I'd give this a C+

I must have significantly lower standards.
