I dunno man, the dubstep remixes are nigh on actual comedy, like they cross that line from being so bad to actually kind of entertaining for the fact they're so bad.

My thoughts exactly. Who actually enjoys this crap?

Thanks OTD. My rep rating has gone through the roof from the upgrade.

I think the avatar is very fitting considering Ed puts the Benjamins well ahead of his friends and morals.

I listened to the samples of the remixes as well (for about 4 seconds). OMFG! I now seriously believe he has been hit over the head and suffered brain damage. What a joke he's become! I wouldn't waste my time with free versions either.

I won't buy or even listen to this album. I wouldn't take it for free. ... I wouldn't bend over to pick up a copy if this cd if I saw it sitting on top of the trash can. Although it would be fun to do a review if it on my blog...

Damnit Fish, I was waiting to hear your take on the drop off in lyrical content, oh well, I'll try my best then since you won't touch this drivel.

Garden

"All I know.. Dirty water.."

Well that didn't take long, all but 4 words and we are introduced to the concept of water once again. I won't lie I laughed immediately because when the music started, I was intent on waiting for the lyrics thinking to myself "I wonder if there will be water..."

Again, revisited themes of you guessed it:
"Desert, Thirsty.. quench it.. Heaven.. .hell"

Still waiting to hear... oh yes here it is! Love! The predictable theme continues.
"for your love..."

Cliches:
"die a thousand times." and "light that fades"

But wait, here comes the best part of the lyrics. I call these fillers:
"Whhooaaa ooh oooh whoa oooh oaaah ooh oh ooo oooh oh ohhh..."

-----
Rise

The buzzing at the beginning that's a moth zapper.. it should be zapping some life into this song.

Here we go again with the cliches:

"going to stand my ground"
"ball and chain"
"a shooting star burning in the night"
"spin out of control"

Also gotta love the subtle messages in the song. Yes, the posse is arriving. Revenge? What's this about lawyers and lawsuits? Meh.. more lazy lyric writing and thrown in messages to make it semi-interesting.

------
I'm the Proof

"speeding car..." you sure it wasn't a fast red car? Such predictable use of adjectives in lyric writing these days. Use imagination!!

"are you still hungry?" Yes I am, are you? What next? How about "Do you have a light?"

"Sometimes people change and I'm the proof." Yes, there is much truth to this statement. Thank you Ed.

What? no mention of.. oh wait yes, it's in here, he does mention:
"love..."

"Take a drink, I know you're thirsty." Seriously? Okay fine.. I'll have a glass of... wait for it... water.

"Sunshine on your face" Meh... Still waiting for "crashing waves"

--------
Solar Flare

More cliches. I mean I don't mind cliches in lyrics but the overuse of them is just too much. It says to me "I'm a lazy writer", Ed can do much better and has so seeing this stuff is just a shame.

"fall from grace" yes, that describes this exactly right.

"took my breath away"
"I keep falling down"
"can't find the light"

"na na na na na na na na" - more signs of laziness, this filler stuff is right up there with the
"Whhooaaa ooh oooh whoa oooh oaaah ooh oh ooo oooh oh ohhh..." from Garden.

"love" ? "fate"? - yes, they make their appearance again in the lyrics

"Save me from myself" - Hmmmm.. Yes, I hear you.
"I need your love tonight"

--------

Mind Games

Please please.. don't ruin Lennon for us. OH NO!! THE REMIX!

--------

I think the beginning of the Solar Flare remix and the background tracking as well pretty much summarizes the EP.

"Na na na na na na na NAHH"

To go from this:

Mr. President?
I hereby pardon you of all your crimes
For they are just as much mine

Selfishness and separation have led me
To believe that the world is not my problem
The world is not my problem
I am the world
And you are the world

To the stuff of this EP, it's just really really bad. Talk about a long fall from the top. Long gone are the days of deep philosophical search for spiritual truths, long gone are the days of questioning that universal question of Why? The books on eastern thought and religions of old are now replaced with what Ed has truly found. Love in Christ and Contemporary Christian rock. Oh well. I guess this is the best we're gonna get.

-Jimmy

It's bad. Very bad. That's all I can really say about it. It's definitely not worth trying to decipher and interpret it. What happened to this man? He went from MJ to this garbage? Really?

"a shooting star burning in the night"

I still love the fact someone on facebook singled this line out as "AMAZING" ... like, REALLY? hahaha

Seriously, pissing chimps aside; this is fucking horrible. It's just cliche after cliche, LAZY, song writing, you could literally write all the lyrics to this EP in one afternoon. It's just so one dimensional. It's just all such incredibly lazy, rushed song writing. Nick was tooting his horn about how busy Ed is and how great it is getting all this out so fast, my thought is "slow the fuck down!" take some time man and actually put some effort and thought into this shit. If he has an album out next year it is going to be an absolute train wreck at this stage.

The Lennon cover was the one thing I had hope for, I'm not even a big Lennon fan, but then again I'm not a big U2 fan, or Dylan, or Guided by voices or the Furs ... but Live and Ed have never done a bad cover, and even the covers of artists I don't normally like, the covers have been great; so I actually had a bit of secret hope for this one, believe it or not. But Ed managed to find a way to fuck it up, he took one of the only good things he had left going for him and screwed it. Terrible.

As for the remixes, they're just hilarious. Seriously, it's like someone took the most amateur audio editing program (which they probably pirated for free from a torrent) and just used stock shitty cheap dubstep beats and put them over the top of the original songs. They are just AWFUL. So bad that I actually laughed. Rise especially. It's like Ed did what Ed does "hey I can make money out of this!" and realised "that Skrillix dude is making some cash doing this dubstep thing, maybe I'll make some dubstep too and be a big hit in all the clubs and get lots of money!" Only thing is, club goes don't want shitty cheap dubstep pasted over the top of christian power pop-rock tracks, doofus!

Official Pokey rating of "The Garden EP" - 1/100 (the 1 point was for making me laugh at the Dubstep). This is the worst thing that Ed has ever done. Period. SFBM is better than this. There, I said it.

Ed somehow managed to make 5 bad songs even worse with the remixes. Let's have another analogy, shall we?

Ed basically took some pre-made cookie dough (cookie cutter lyrics), put the pre-cut squares onto a cookie sheet (put the cookie cutter lyrics with some bland music), put them in the oven, burned them (the first 5 bad songs), then took them out only to put them back into the oven and increase the temperature (the remixes).

Someone call the fire department.

I'm not a Live 2.0 fan. I didn't go to their shows, or listen to any of the sample recordings. I am reserving a proper release for judgement. That being said, I've had 3-4+ years of shitty Ed material to conclude on. It absolutely sucks and this EP release is no different.
