If Album # 8 was just around the corner, and it was up to you to make it the perfect Live album which everyone would love and be blown away by, including all the longtime Live fans, casual fans, the average music fans, and all the critics, what would the album be like? Try not to say what it shouln't be like, but instead what it should be like. And if you had to predict, when do you think Ed, or the entire band, will start writing new material for #8. Right away? In the winter? In a couple years? Discuss...

I think you can never combine it in that way, that everyone likes it.
But the best way to come close to what you asked, is combining the elements of TC with BoP and maybe a little TDTH

And I don't think we get album no.8 very soon, the recent album has to be released yet in USA, come on! smile.gif

But at the end of 2007 they will record some new stuff I think, but you never know, whatever it's gonna be I think it will be more rockin' than SFBM

And ps: yes there will sure be new albums of Live and no, Ed will never go solo, I cannot imagine

I think this is what needs to happen:

Ed's wife and children need to die in a tragic plane crash.
Someone else in the band needs to have the mother diagnosed with alzheimers.
Another member of the band needs to find his wife cheating on him with his brother.

In a couple years, in the aftermath of these events, they should come back together and start writing music using the band as both a vehicle to express the disappointment with recent events and as a way of improving their lives.

This would result in an album that expressed both negative and positive emotions, as opposed to the recent absurdly happiness present in their work. Life isn't always perfect. They need to get back to expressing a wide variety of emotions, which would make their work much more worthwhile. I rarely feel the need to sit down and listen to completely upbeat positive music. What does that do? I don't go to art for one feeling at a time. I much prefer a variety of moods and tones and thoughts.

I hope they all go through hell in the next couple years. Then I hope they use music to express the hell they've lived through, and to try to get out of it. The negativity would be meant to express what they've experienced. The positivity would be meant to get themselves back on track.

Ed needs to let CT start writing again. Look at the thread of his tour diary. He is totally screwed up, that makes for great music.

Well hey, I hope your life is destroyed too, and I don't care what that results in.

A shift back to rock from pop would be nice, IMHO. Deeper lyrics, too.

yeah he seems very enthousiastic indeed. Live should use his creativity more.
I guess Lakini's Juice was a product of Chad's ideas?

I agree that CT, or maybe the whole band, needs to start writing with Ed. They should definitely make it their heaviest album yet, with every song rocking as hard as possible and CT and Pat's guitars turned way up. They could have 1 amazing ballad with sliding guitars. Limit the falsetto and the use of "love", and I think most people would dig it. If they promoted the album as "their hardest, darkest rocking album yet", everyone who's owned a Live album would go out and buy it.

actually~the pheez is one of the more SANE people i know.

as far as getting fucked up to write 'great' music~i think trent needs to get a little bit of his angst back, too, not just LiVE, or should I say, Ed.

their over the top happy go lucky life is all full of love is not for me and my life at this point; hence, my lack of support, enjoyment of their latest works and my ever spinning NIN, shinedown, ten years, tool.
