I wasn't too impressed with the interview. I got the impression that the interviewer was not very knowledgeable and may have only known about Lightning Crashes and been given a couple other song titles before the show started. She may not have even known Ed was no longer with Live. He did mention about his solo work, not that he is no longer with Live. The whole thing just felt forced and like Hobbsy said, scripted. I would also like to see a more in-depth interview, and preferably with someone who is more familiar with his and Live's work.

I doubt Ed would allow that.

Oh, absolutely not. After that embarrassing interview that has made the rounds online and on the forums, Ed definitely screens the interviewers to make sure they are on "his side". It's too bad we'll never really get to see the real Ed considering how much of a sell-out and how ridiculously fake he is.

I found it interesting that while the text titles and the interviewer clearly referred to Ed as "of Live", Ed himself never said it - he was careful to say he's in a new chapter or whatever, but never said he was in the band. He didn't go out of his way to correct the interviewer either, so it seemed to me he was really playing the legal deniability game - "I never said I was in Live, and I don't control what others say" therefore, its not "misrepresentation" to have Live plastered all over the screen and interview. He'll take whatever free publicity he can, accurate or not.

Not trying to defend or anything, but his lawyer is probably advising him not to say anything on the matter. Similar to if you're in a car accident and even if it is your fault your insurance company tells you to never admit fault.

I agree, and for him its the right legal move. If he corrected her and said "I'm not in Live", then his stance/defense on the lawsuits would tank.

Cleveland and Minnesota are being billed as Ed Kowalczyk "I Alone" Acoustic.

Only the use of "I alone" in the tour name shows some confusion. It really bills him as: I'm just doing a solo tour without my bandmates.

Ed wrote the lyrics to "I Alone" and every other Live song out there. Naming a tour I Alone acoustic is totally fair game.

It is maybe legal. IM not saying otherwise. It just spreads confusion. If he NEEDS that confusion to gather people at his shows, that is sad. Some of the versions he puts out acoustic are very good. But the billing is also provocative. I alone...I am the one who survived..I am the king of the universe...I am...I am...I am...

One's ego might make you believe that but it is far from the truth. Tying himself to a band that he is no longer a part of, no matter how loosely, is blurring the lines of acceptability. The lawyers will figure it out. No one will be saying it's fair game as you say.

These are the billing for Florida and Connecticut:

Ed Kowalczyk - "I Alone" Acoustic
Founding member and former lead singer of LIVE

Any confusion there?

That looks fine to me. I mean it's cheap as hell and riding those coat tails hard as fuck, but technically correct.

I mean you could go into the whole thing that he was the last member of the 4some that would become Live to join, which technically doesn't make him "founding", but we know you care about the name more than the collaboration of musicians that make up the band. "Founding member" doesn't really mean anything though when you look at it by the terms he's being promoted as, they're all founding members in that case.
