I didn't actually mind the song - I find the lyrics a bit forced as in Ed thinking "I really want this to sound deep" - when instead what we want from Ed I think is honesty.

I also would have preferred the chorus to have heavier guitars but I think it's a decent radio friendly pop/rock song.

As usual Ed's voice is amazing and the veiled references to Jesus final night are good if Christian Rock floats your boat...? eh.gif

One last criticism or point; the intro to the song is decent but how Ed starts the melody with "all...I know" with that pause like in soul whispers or overcome where he starts with "even now" it reminded me how I used to be intensely interested in what was next to come lyrically but now I somehow knew that 'dirty water...' Was on its way.

Overall; I give it a 6/10

Cool in its own Ed K way but a tad predictable.

on Facebook Ed posted the EP version of I'm The Proof. A woman sings w him. Eva and the Heartmaker, I believe it says. I still don't love the song, but I like this version the most of what I've heard. I did not like (at all) Shelby Lynne's participation in Run Away. I loved Walk Into This Room w Neneh Cherry. I'd say this is somewhere in the middle, as far as their voices together. Her voice alone I'm pretty sure I don't love...

I'm seriously curious about the two unheard new songs now...

Woah, I think I like this song! I am so pleasantly surprised. This song shows some real musical, creative, song-writing potential. Ed's voice sounds amazing. And I love Eva's voice. They sound great together.

This song has a little bit of the sound that I loved from my favorite 80's songs. That build-up tension and the duet. The sound of her voice reminds me a little of Peter Gabriel "Don't Give Up". The build up reminds me a little of St. Elmo's Fire and some classic U2. I like the "genre" of this song.

This isn't rock. It isn't even "rawk". But this could be a really cool sound for Ed. And the Christian lyrics are less overt (I think, I will need to listen to it again, I just let it wash over me the first time). If Ed made an entire album comparable to this, I would buy it. But, alas, I don't like the other songs that I've heard from this EP. Even still, I might download this song. I like it.

Ed's voice does sound amazing.

Peter Gabriel's Don't Give Up is a pretty good comparison, vocally.

Thanks Dan for the download.

I can barely hear her until she does her solo part. She's a 100 times better than him. It's still gaggalious to me. I hate the song. I hate his cliche Christian lines.

It sounds like he's trying to do a Tim and Faith but not coming close.

Can't say I haven't given it my best shot. I'm pretty sure my Ed days are over.

Ed was smart to get some talent in on the song. Sadly, I found the song much better when it was her singing instead of Ed. I also found her to sound more genuine than Ed, which is strange, but there it is.

I like this song.

You are right fish : Eva (?) absolutely steals the show - I've never heard Ed sing with anyone and actually prefer the other persons voice but she sounds amazing. Ed ofcourse sounds pretty good too but I think again your right she sounds more into it somehow...

Anyway; I totally would love to have heard the song without knowing what Ed has done to LiVe - or allegedly done to LiVe - if they had parted amicably and this song came out I would've had huge respect for it and Ed for his honesty but knowing what I know that his 'change' has hurt heaps of people including fans it sours the experience for me somewhat - sadly.

I think that the production is ok the orchestral drum and vibe in verses are nice and sound vintage 80's in chorus - pretty sure it was done on a drum machine tho.

Bridge crescendo is very cool and gave me goosebumps and the topic is one I can relate to after getting married and mellowing a bit over last few years...

Overall I'd say 8/10 (extra point for Eva brought it up)

I like the song it has hit potential and whatever genre it is (pop?) it sounds good.

For Ed; I'd go a 9/10 if you square things up with chad, chad & pat hey ???

The sound of the song is alright, the duet is a nice touch, but I don't like the lyrics. If the words were different I think I'd like it better.

I'd say my favorite out of the three so far is The Rise. Reminds me a little of The Great Beyond.
