I really can't believe the "evolution" Ed has taken as an artist. I get the whole idea that artists change and do different things as their careers progress but my, oh my, has he fallen off a cliff lyrically and musically. It's the same old sappy sounding crap as usual.

My take?

This seems a lot like Stand II. If you liked ALIVE you will like this song. Other songs that are rumored to be on the EP, like DWLF, don't sound like this at all. Rise is pop, plain and simple. Pop isn't bad but if done wrong it can be... well... boring.

I can also say I am disappointed if this is the album cover. Live's covers have usually been good but as Ed gets more solo he just focuses on himself more.

I liked some of Alive and hated other parts of it.

This particular song sounds more like the solo Ed sound that I think is alright. It's not a special or stunning song but I would add it to my short list of Alive songs that I listen to.

According to a post on Ed's Facebook the EP will be available for download on Nov 19, but an actual CD will be released in December.

(Ed K.) 11/19 is the official digital release date for The Garden EP! It will be available on all the digital online outlets in North America (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) and in the online store at edkowalczyk.com for the rest of the world. :-)

it sounds good in places when we dont hear that overproduced high volume screetch...it's a continuation of SFBM and Alive. The beg had a Eat your Love type teaser. Its very poppy, not my cup of tea....i expect everything to be like this from here on out.

IF you get a full length album cover with that shot....I see a mug shot photo with the placard

He actually has a little growl in his voice on "Rise", can't say i hate the song. Pretty good track considering where it's coming from. Lyrics; I heard a "lord" reference in the lyrics i think, catchy chorus though.
