QUOTE(World Dreamer @ May 11 2012, 3:53 pm) *

In the land of no shame. That is where Ed currently resides. In fact, he is probably the mayor of the town.

Mayor of the town, also Senator and probably Assistant Superintendent of Schools as well. Or maybe he's on vacation right now having accrued enough sick days. Wonder if he's left me any voice messages inviting me to a show. Yeah probably not. I wouldn't want to embarrass him. "You embarass me.."

At least they fixed this on their site:
http://pullocenter.yk.psu.edu/event_detail..._singer_of_LIVE

I'd love to see a review of this show. Anyone know if Ed is doing any press for the York show? Nick? What's the scoop? Will he be doing interviews? Will he have any stipulations for said interviews? Maybe no questions about the legal suits in litigation right now... no questions about me referencing York as a Shit Town recently still... no questions about the new lineup for my old band LIVE and CCCP.. no questions about the personal relationship with my old bandmates.. no questions about how I stabbed them in the back and fucked them over.... no questions about the subtle meanings in my lyrics for my most current songs.. no questions about my personal finances... no questions about my current marketing and promotional practices of my shows.. I won't sign any photos either.. especially Throwing Copper photos with cigars... no questions about any recent interactions/messages I may/may not have have with my former bandmates... But all other questions I will entertain, but please, no uncomfortable questions.

"Yes, thank you for buying Alive and coming to my show. I appreciate your support. Thank you York, you've been here for me, and I've been here for you. I love you guys. This next song is about water..."

-Jimmy

What's the bet Ed says something wanky at the show like "man it's good to be home!" ...

I'd love to hear him get asked a question of what he thinks about CCP doing their bit to try and help out their home town while Ed hasn't done anything but run away from it, diss it, then turn up to take its money on merchandise. He'd answer it with some kind of Saccoesque reply of "oh i'm unaware of what they're doing, so it's a bit hard for me to answer that". At which point you'd hope the interviewer would explain in detail what CCP have been doing so that he can't dodge the question.

But of course, stipulation - no questions about that.

is anyone here going? I've said, and its true, that I won't give Ed my money until he stops billing himself as "of Live", which, unfortunately looks like that won't happen until a judge forces his hand. (this venue only has appropriate billing due to fan, and possibly CCP action).

that said, I still love Ed's voice. especially without that band.
its splitting hairs, but I won't spend *my* money. I asked my roommate about going but he's got to go to New Orleans that weekend. Last night my friend called to tell me that she bought me tickets right before her power went out. I didn't even ask her.
this is very nice of her. she saw Ed w me at the first of his Open Wings tour. she enjoyed it, as did I. she went with me to see Live in March (thanks again OTD, and the Thrill). that was amazing.
so she knows most of the scoop and she knows that I love his voice. if it sounds machined or autotuned or whatever in person I will be saddened and disappointed.
I will deliver the best review I can.

I know I'm not blameless either, but the shit slinging around here has got to stop. please let's not follow my initial queston of "is anyone else going?" with six pages of "I'd go if they let me kick Ed in the teeth" or whatever. its disheartening. from both sides.

even if the initial lawsuit is pure BS (I don't think it is), its clear Ed is using a brand name he has no legal right to use. he wrote much of the songs, he can sing them, he can record them (as long as he pays royalties), but he no longer owns the name Live and he should not associate himself w it.
I've met all 4 original members across various situations and Ed has, in general, been kind. he's even recognized me a few times. bit he is human. as such, he is fallible. I don't want to give him my money until he stops being shady. again, I know I'm splitting hairs, but my moral fiber is fallible as well - and it loves good music.

If the show is awesome or sucks, I'll say so. I'm not sure what seats we have. I'll try to take a video or two.
I enjoy reading fan reviews and I hope mine's not the only one.

Please let's stop bullying each other. I hope we can learn to just live and let live and enjoy the music that makes us smile.

not any sarcasm. did u see them? I won't say she's amazing because I'm an awful judge of musical ability. I just know what I like. she was there at the first open wings performance and it was a wonderful accompaniment to Ed and the guitar. stripped down is where I like him best as this point. and that box is very simple, and a nice change. and there's no cymbal for anyone to keep a windup monkey toy beat with like some drummers he's used (I don't mean CG)

Kingsfoil is opening the show this Friday. Small world!

http://www.flipsidepa.com/kingsfoil/ci_219...rce=most_viewed

Two of York County's biggest acts will converge Friday at Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center, 1031 Edgecomb Ave., Spring Garden Township.

Kingsfoil - the local rock group that recently added actor Frankie Muniz on drums - will open for former Live lead singer Ed Kowalczyk.

Chris Beaverson, director of sales and marketing for the Pullo Center, said the Kingsfoil set will also be acoustic. The setup does not include drums, so it's unclear if Muniz will be at the concert.

"For some shows, we have the ability to have local openers to draw local fans," Beaverson said. The Pullo Center has booked other local openers, including Mark DeRose and Darry Miller, for previous shows.

Since Kowalczyk didn't have an opener, Pullo Center management jumped at the chance to work with Kingsoil. Beaverson said the up-and-coming rock group has been on the venue's radar for months. Kowalczyk's management, he added, approved the addition to the show Monday, shortly after it was pitched by the Pullo Center.

Fans can expect Kingsfoil to take the stage around 7:30 p.m. Friday for a 45-minute set. Kowalczyk will follow. Beaverson said he expects a full house, but tickets -- priced at $29 -- are still available.

just got here. Staff says building seats 1000, 600+ tickets sold as of this morning. People were buying tickets as I walked in. I'll try to get a total when I leave. excited to also see Kingsfoil. have Nick on ignore so didn't know until this morning that they are here. Will try to give full review later, but more likely tomorrow.
Oh, Ed's wine is for sale. $50 a bottle. Because there's a limited quantity I assume.

Kingsfoil - sans Frankie Muniz, 2 acoustic guitars and the bass player on the box drum thing
1.American veins
2.Give it up now. I like this song
3.Albatross
4.what ur mother taught u
5. Love is a carnival goldfish
6. Giving
7. Song I don't know the title of
8. If u love something push it away - he is too young to sing this many sad songs about love
9. Hidden track
10. Heartprints
11. Demons

What I like is his vocal range. what I dislike is that every song has broken heart skinny jeans emo titles and lyrics. Fun band. Nothing distinctive.

OTD, I'm quite sure Ed's wine is generic w a fancy sticker. I'm just saying I'm assuming only so many such stickers were printed.
Break between bands. Crew is turning on all little battery operated tealight candles. this venue is great. I'm in row q which looks much farther away on the seating chart than it is.
There's a small drum set-up. I can't really get a pic w my phone I'm too far back for this piece of crap. I may try to take a video.
