New track Survival. I could care less if its associated with the London Olympics, I just care that September 17th the new album hits.

FUCKING LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
They are still amazing.
Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are very, very good albums. Love it.
Showbiz, BH&R and The Resistance are also good. I just love every album they have made.

I'm a very, very big Muse, at the moment it's my favorite band after Live.
Have already pre-ordered the album. I can't wait for it.

The 2nd Law out now! What do you guys think?
The first album with 2 songs sung and written by another bandmember (Chris - Bassplayer).

I must say i'm really into this album. It's a typical Muse album really, very eclectic.
They got a lot of flack for incorporating a bit of dubstep (just 1 song), but i think it's just cuz the album is lacking the harder stuff they're known for. Some might say it's a commercial move, but i think it's more about reinvention and moving on.

Here's a short review:

Supremacy: Awesome opener. Very Bond, epic etc (it's been said a lot, but i must agree). Classic Muse. Led Zeppelin comes to mind too. lol.gif
Madness: A calm, minimal electronic cross between 'I Want To Break Free' and 'Faith' with arrangements similar to Depeche Mode. This song echoes Undisclosed Desires (From the last album, The Resistance), but really explosed towards the end. great first single.
Panic Station: Now, here they go a step further into dance. The song reminds of Queen circa 1982 (when they went disco),Franz Ferdinand and to some extent Prince. Sexy track and one of my faves.
Prelude + Survival: Great instrumental. Bears similarities to Chopin's Etude Opus 10 no 3 segueing into Survival, which is like the 21st century equivalent of Queen's We Are The Champions (but less catchy). The lyrics seem a bit weak, but if you have seen the making of and how much fun the guys had making this track, you know it's not intended to be very serious. (similar to The United States of Eurasia, from their previous effort)
Follow Me: Starts off with baby Bingham's heartbeat recorded by proud dad Matt. lol.gif
Nice track, sweet lyrics obviously dedicated to his newborn(hah!) son and fatherhood. The ending reminds me of the ending of Where The Streets have No Name by U2.
Animals: Muse never shy away from politics and social commentary and this album has a few stabs in that area. 'Animals' is Muse's first full song written in 5/4 time signature. The song closes with screams, calls, bells and applause in the midst of the stock market. 'Animals' is about economies collapsing under the weight of stock market savagery, of industries desperate to "advertise, franchise… kill the competition," and of the greed of bankers who Matt claims should "kill [themselves]."
Explorers: A song lamenting dying crops and abused nature, inspired by Matt's concerns of industrial greed and business monopolies. 'Explorers' is drenched in the sense of not belonging in your own world. Nearly called 'Alien Explorers,' Matt claimed, but "not in the way of aliens from outer space but in the way of feeling like an alien on your own planet. It's about the intense desire to grow and expand - at some point nature will become the minority.
Big Freeze: In an NME article, the song was described as 'stadium stomp' and being about the world being in "meltdown."
According to previews of the album, Big Freeze is a surprising song with funk elements while retaining a 'Muse-y' sound.
In the chorus, you can hear similar vocals to Map of the Problematique. The song has been compared to U2.
Save Me: 'Save Me' is one of two songs on the album written by Chris about his alcoholism, the other being 'Liquid State.' He described the song as being about "having the family, the wife and the kids who, despite all the crap that I've put them through, at the end of it you realise they're still there and they're the ones who pulled you through." Chris said, "I don't think I expected to sing it when I showed it to the other guys, but it was approached with a pretty open mind. They felt it was a big step for the band." Weak song, with simple lyrics and monotone singing.
Liquid State: His 2nd effort is more convincing imho. Reminds me a bit of Pendulum, especially the vocals. Chris said the song was 'written about the person you become when you're intoxicated and how the two of them are having this fight inside of you and it tears you apart'.
The 2nd Law - Unsustainable: The song is a unique mix of classical music, progressive rock and dubstep.
The 2nd Law - Isolated System: The song includes no vocals, the main part is the piano and it ends with the voice of a woman in a loop. Sounds like it could've been on the Twin Peaks soundtrack. Very Lynch-y. lol.gif Sounds nice, but a bit unnecessary, could've been a nice b-side.

Muse went too commercial for me with the last album. This one just sounds like a Muse parody to me. sad.gif

What's most disappointing is that they turned totally commercial after success with the Twilight movie, and THEN they got popular in America. Sad on so many levels. sad.gif

I used to love Muse in 99-01. Not after their 03 release.
