True fans are not blind fans neither. We can still, as fans, express our concerns about some situations. We can be critical about some situations tht has happened in the last year or two. Of course it depends of how we do it. True fans don't have to sit beside CCP and agree with everything they say or do. They did good and bad things and we give our opinions. It is always sain to have these discussions as long as it is respectful.

I think fans are always going to be critical in some ways no matter how much they love something. I bleed red and black in the football, I love my Bombers, but I can be critical of things I think they're getting wrong. Of course people involved with the football club know a hell of a lot more about footy and the situations and such than I do, but it doesn't mean I can't voice an opinion over concerns, it doesn't mean I don't respect or love the club, I still pay my membership, I still go to games and such ... just like we will be buying our tickets to Live gigs and will be buying the new album and have been doing both for a long time and merch etc... we love our band, but just like our sport, of course we're going to be critical about things at times, it's nothing to get all worked up over, it's part of the anticipation.

But that being said, yeah I'm really not all that fussed about when/how we get updates, personally I know it'll happen when it happens and I have plenty to occupy myself with until then and I'm confident when it does happen that it'll blow me away and make me happy for years to come and be worth the wait. But yeah, when the band says "hey guys we're going to be doing bla bla bla" "Hey guys expect bla bla bla" ... that's when the band themselves are setting expectations and getting tongues wagging, and when that stuff just seemingly get swept under the rug, we want to know why. I don't think we EXPECT the band to deliver on every promise, we understand that sometimes things come along and ruin the plans or delay them ... but if the band are the ones that have started the ball rolling with it, then a simple update on why things haven't turned out as such would be totally suffice I think. "Hey guys, sorry about the delay with the churchbox demos/competition winner/website updates/maintenance, but..." as opposed to just seemingly sweeping it under the rug and ignoring it.

So basically, to break it down.

Scenario where the band sets the expectations: Band announces there will be a couple of warm up shows this fall. Or look for an old B-side to be released soon. Fall rolls around - no shows, months go by - no b-side .. fans are antsy, what's going on? I don't see anything wrong about questions being asked here. If for nothing else then for the band's own reputation and self respect to be seen to follow up on their word.

Scenario where the fan sets the expectations: The band should update us more often on the album process, they should deliver us some in studio video! - The band gives no studio video and very rarely updates. This is where the fan has set the expectations of what they want and if these things don't end up happening, that's no fault of the band, that's people just getting impatient and expecting things to be a certain way. It'd be nice if they did, but it doesn't have to happen.

So really I think it's just a mix of some people being way too impatient, and some people way too protective of CCP in that they can do no wrong. I don't think anything here is unfair on any party or asking too much of anyone, why people are so firmly in one camp or another I don't know.
Personally, I love Live, I'll just wait for some new music tongue.gif

Anyone who actually bothers to post on a Live message board after this long is a true fan. It is beyond me how anyone could think otherwise. Some people enjoy being critical of the artists they love right along with discussing the positives. Personally I think that is healthier than just lapping up whatever is served, and this board (which the guys read) should provide a good sounding board for what their fans are interested in seeing happen. What's wrong with that?

Imagine the fallout if a band with a huge, rabid fan base (like Pearl Jam) were to promise an album of b-sides and a free b-side with their website launch, and then didn't deliver with no explanation. Those fanbases would go BONKERS. In Live land, we are the only ones who know or care about it, so that's pretty fortunate.

Spot on bro.

The rug has been pulled from underneath us on more then one occasion. I thought Live was dead and buried for many years now. The fact that there has been a reincarnation of Live has re-energized the TRUE FANS.

We understand the guys can't predict every road block to their list of promises. Maybe that's why things have been a bit quiet of late? I'm in agreement with OTD that we will probably find out the reasons behind all of the delays.

If the guys really don't value the opinions (right, wrong, crazy or asinine) of the fans on their ONLY fan-site then why should we give a fuck?

Yep.

You know what would help? Any sort of communication. Is it so hard to pick up a cell phone and thumb out "Ran into some issues and can't release that track we promised for the website sign up."? That alone would have settled any questions I have. That approach would settle just about everything that has come up with this band.

In the golden age of quick, simple, and viral information these guys are silent? In the middle of making an album? And we are selfish children and not a true fans for wondering what is up?

Laughable. 100% laughable.

I see your point, but people need to respect their personal lives as well. I hear a lot of people whining about how they don't do this and that, as if these three men owe them something.

True fans would be MUCH more true and supportive. For instance, I've not heard Bob, Chris, Aitkens(sorry, forgot your actual name), and a few others bitch and moan even ONCE about the website design, or it's slow emergence. Not heard them whine once about a lack of album info, or about being given some sort of sample or something. Not once about news updates and such....

People need to fucking relax on that shit much more than anything you've attributed to here. I may be one of those people that are a bit too overprotective of them, but I only speak my mind on the matter when I observe people acting like fucking children with a sense of selfish entitlement. Anything I've alluded to in this respect doesn't in any way express a sense of perfection in these three gentlemen.

I just look at these three guys and think that if I were them, I wouldn't want my "true and loyal fans" whing at every fucking turn. It's borderline ridiculous. I'm sure they'd appreciate it more if we just let them live their fucking lives and respect them for who and what they are. I know for fact that it is hurtful sometimes and I know for fact that these guys want nothing more than to give us what we want. But they also live the lives of men who unfortunately for us, don't simply live and breathe music. They need to look out for themselves, and more importantly, for the future of their children. The money isn't what it used to be, plain and simple. So they need to explore other options and that is exactly what they do as businessmen.

I's ok to be anxious, fuck, I'm just as anxious as the next guy. But I respect these guys enough to let them live their lives and gives us what they can, when they can. I'm not defending them like they're angels. But I will defend them when I see people acting like selfish children, acting up when they don't get what they want.

You remind me of this kid. "LEAVE LIVE ALONE!!!"

Unless it's happening on facebooks or twitters (I don't use either) where are all these whiners complaining at every turn around here? Am I missing threads and posts here?

Also, agree with the last few posts above.

That's the thing, to a lot of people the complaining is extremely minor, but some seem to think it's akin to people camping outside of CT's house and pestering him with questions about B-sides as he goes to put the cat out in the morning.

Fuck cats.

and I'm guessing that Ed K would love the attention/discussion that's directed at CCCP on this board from Live fans. It shows we care - simple as that.

Ed's releasing his EP next month and going on tour. I think he is doing okay without the attention of the handful of "real" Live fans on here.

It is the old sports analogy....be glad your coach is screaming at you because that means he cares and knows you are capable of more. Be worried when he stops because that means he has given up on you.
