Sorry I had to stop back by and be the bearer of bad news somewhat, but I think most of you misunderstand what PD is saying here.......and nowhere did he say that they were FINISHING THE ALBUM.

He said they are finishing what they started, which I'm pretty sure means laying down the vocals to the music for the first five tracks off the new album. They aren't finishing, nor are they finished with all songs from the new album.

Don't expect this album to be released anytime soon. I know it's frustrating because we are all anxious for the new material, but we have to maintain some fucking dignity here. Show some respect as TRUE fans and stop fucking demanding that these guys owe us ANYTHING. When the music is done, and they're ready, we will get it. They're the ones sacrificing their time away from their families and everything else, so we need to respect that they're trying to give us what we want.

It strikes me as DISGUSTINGLY selfish to hear so many fuckheads saying that they owe us more in the form of: updates, snippets, communication, exact timeframes, plans for promotion, reasoning for website timing...and lack of heart and soul going into it. I mean, it's getting fucking ridiculous and petty.

Do you people really think that these guys don't have their own lives?? That it might be really fucking hard for them to juggle everything, including missing out on their childrens lives, to give fans what they want?? Only to hear shit like this all the time??

I know they have thick skin, but in the end? They are people just like us.

My statement here and now is this:

Instead of being demanding, petty and selfish....how bout being supportive, respectful and considerate. A true fan, I'm utterly fucking certain, would choose the latter, I know I certainly do.

Who's being demanding?

I've read through the last few pages and I don't see anyone begging for the new album.

My comment was just about hearing something - not a song or the entire album. And to be honest I really don't care if they release anything or not.

I don't see how a comment like that would perceive you to think that someone is not being supportive, respectful or considerate - quite the opposite I would have thought.

I think most people here know these guys by now and also know that it will happen when they are ready.

In the meantime I'm happy to see the pictures and hear the stories. I won't get in the foetal position if I don't hear a chord.

Are they releasing an album or an EP? Because if they choose the latter, they are almost finished(I remember Chad Taylor mentioning an EP release a while back).

Asking for a clip here and there is not that much to ask for...

So yea - they do owe me something since I purchased a Homespun subscription.

I'm cool with waiting for the album and I'm also appreciative that they have been posting pictures from the studio with brief updates. Not sure where your rant came from and it's a bit over the top.

No, it isn't over the top. Everywhere you go all you hear is this bullshit. Read any fucking thread aound here pretty much and it goes on.

People complaining about the website and how little was done to support it. Complaining about not being kept in the loop about what's going on with release dates and all that shit. They owe you nothing period except to bring you the good music they promised.

Even reading a post from Todd a week or so ago, I was like WTF? So when they are ready to give clips, updates and stuff like that, they will. Being overly critical solves nothing. When the album is done, it's done. Otherwise, start your own band and make your own cd to you and everyone else to hear.

If I could just pop in for a moment...
I guess I'm half and half on the fence with that view. The way I see it, yeah when the album is done, it's done, I don't really need little clips and constant updates, they're doing their thing in their time and when it's ready it's going to blow us away for years and years, I don't think they "owe" us anything. But at the same time, things like the website and announcing a competition that went nowhere etc... I think more should be done about that, not for us, but more for their own respect. It just, doesn't reflect or look good ... yeah I know it's all about the music, and really that's all I really care about, but if I'm being 100% honest, it's like they started too many things at once and a few got forgotten. Some people here seem to think that they can do no wrong and must be defended tooth and nail at every turn, life and human beings don't work like that - they're great guys, they're gonna make us some amazing music, but they are human and have flaws and things like being a bit too trigger happy with things like those already mentioned, is one of them. In some ways thats why I don't really care if we don't see or hear anything until it's all DONE, because then they're ready to move forward to the next stage ... I'd rather have them go off the radar for awhile getting things done in their own time than pop up giving people all sorts of info that people build their own expectations on and then feel let down when it doesn't happen in a time frame that they deem appropriate.
So it's broken down into 2 ways for me, it depends who is initiating the expectations - the fans saying "they should give us a clip, they should give us a video, they should update us more" I think can be a bit spoilt child-like at times. But when it's the band coming out saying "this will be our new website! this is the competition! expect this.." etc .. then I think if they announce something they have an obligation to follow through with it, or at least update when/if plans change (because that's understandable).

Again, all that being said I don't think we should jump down the throats of people who are getting antsy waiting ... these people are on our side, being over excited is their worst crime ... they're not trying to undermine things or hoping failings on the guys or anything like that ... they have massive love for the band and yeah what they're asking for might seem a bit impatient, but so what, just roll with it, there are much worse things they could be doing ... I don't think CCCP would be fussed, they're doing things in their own time.

And, carry on smile.gif

Live are solely responsible for building the hype around their website by asking fans to sign up as many as people as possible to spread the word of Live's rebirth. Site launches and then not updated once. I get that shit happens (Legal BS, family, etc), but it's the empty promises that have been unfulfilled that rub a lot of us the wrong way.

They never promised us an album date, clips so anything from here on out is all gravy and I'm glad they are taking their time on the new album.

Maybe Live is just for fun/hobby and not their main focus these days, but if they do want it to succeed then maybe they should get their ducks in a row before rolling shit out.

With all that said...I can't wait to hear the new shit and I look forward to seeing them in concert.

Damned internet. in 80s you would find an ad in a newspaper and would jump up and down if you see a familiar face of your fave musician... but now...
