Our take: White roses and thorns

ROSES: To Ed Kowalczyk for reaching out to his old bandmates in Live, saying in an email he would like to reunite. The former frontman has been estranged from the three other original members of the group and embroiled in litigation. It's sad to see a group of homegrown York boys who created at least one classic rock album together squabbling. It would be great to see them reunite - and even work together helping their old hometown.[u]

The guy is clearly not knowing everything...that happens when we only refer to the media to analyse a situation. Anyway, Ed already has tons of roses with the kind of songs he writes since 2001.

If Ed get a rose for asking Live to have him back then he should get an entire bouquet hey if he gives them their money back that he stole and he should get an entire florist if he starts making good music again with some intensity

They don't have to bow down or even take him back, but they should at the very least sit down with him for a meeting. If Ed is bluffing as you say, shouldn't they call him on it? If he isn't bluffing and they can work something out, LIVE is stronger with Ed than with Chris Shinn.

Are you a fucktard? The only person buying this shit on a stick is you. Ed doesn't even believe it.

He's said himself he's moved on from that chapter in his life. He's happy making his own music and he couldn't be happier. In his Lolapolooza interview he says he's moved on and is not interested in revisiting being part of Live. That was just last summer.

On his facebook page just said that he's coming to Europe next year to do a solo tour.

It's all bullshit coming out of Ed's ass. He has no interest.

Plus, if he was really interested, he wouldn't have expressed it in an email or press release - he would have manned up, talked to CCP, and we wouldn't even know about it.

I cant revmember if this is the thrxead that disccusses whether Live should create an album for themfselves or for the fans or for whatever, but i really hope (as a fanv.) that they create music wdithout regard to what we or the undustry wants. They are a post-90's act that will never get the same kind of cultural penetration they enjoyed >15 years jago and everyone should know that. ACDC came odut with their album recntly as did Van Halen and Metallica a few years ago, all staying true to their original sound, and they were only successful because they are d the gods of their rock genre, nothing more,...nobody below the age of 20 knows the singles that came from those albujms and they dont care, and unfortunatley thats the demographic that matters in twerms of sales. what I at least hope for is something that i can relate and connect to as a fan, as a 29 yr old and as a human being, and it would bes foolish to hedge your expectations on a comeback with a song liker ligjuting crashes that becomes part of the cultural aweareness, product of the time i spose,

I disagree, while the new Van Halen album was refreshing, and definitely captured their original sound, Metallica lost theirs a long time ago.

Another article that clearly doesn't get it. I believe this was the newspaper article PD posted regarding being in a band with someone insane. Really, Ed would love to come back but fans should be wary.. it would be the worse move ever. I would probably have to stop listening to the band. No lie! I'm sure a lot of others would probably follow suit. It would further disintegrate the musical direction they were headed down.

Having Ed back in the band would be the worst move ever musically for the band. And I told the guys EXACTLY this fact, all of them. It would be a bad move. If you guys read Fish's latest blog posting about if the band can move on as CCCP, he makes COMPLETELY VALID POINTS. They can and they will! It is the best thing to happen to the guys that Chris come in and give them new life, that and TGF, bless those guys KM and SH! A breath of fresh air musically speaking. They have their creativity and freedom back, no more restraints and confinements. They can freely unleash and explore whatever musical direction they want and do it TOGETHER! I'm a huge fan of music, you guys have no idea (well maybe some of you do), not just Live and Rush but I listen to a shitload of music! It's the only way to know good music from bad music, to know what appeals to your ears and what you don't like. To understand good musicianship, whether it's a good rock drummer or a great bassist, etc..etc. I probably own about 3000 CD's all in boxes (everything is in itunes now for me) and I constantly listen to new music. (My favorite stuff right now is on KEXP, I listen to it 3-4 times a week and their podcasts discovering new music all the time). Point here is Ed coming back into Live? NO! WORST IDEA EVER! It would ruin the musical direction of this band forever. They've done some amazing stuff in the past with Ed, really magical stuff, but the way things were headed towards the end and the past few cd's and the way Ed's solo stuff sounds... Ed back into Live would just be disastrous from a musical standpoint. CCCP is the New LIVE! And we should all be GRATEFUL and ANXIOUS, the band is back and the music will rock again.

So articles like this? With Ed wanting to get back into the band. It's nothing to get excited over really. That chapter and that ship has long sailed. Fish's blog posting I would say is most excellent and should be required reading for anyone that follows this band closely. How he breaks down the musical process and compares/contrasts the styles of the guys with and without Ed. Well I'm in full agreement with him. CCCP is here to stay. Get used to it!

And they are doing extraordinarily well moving forward, both as musicians and as human beings, as evident by their efforts with TGF and CCCP in the studio along with all their business ventures trying to give back to their roots and their communities helping to better it and to create jobs and stimulate the local economies .. much more productive than selling wine or coffee or worse - ripping off friends.

So as far as all this nonsense of Ed wanting to rejoin the band, let's all give up on the pipe dream. It's CCCP time and the guys have moved on. Ed has also moved on.. so it's all good. Let's keep it that way.

fans that are trying to find out what's going on with Ed, need to read Fish's blog. THis will give it to them straight. If they choose to follow, great, if it's not their cup of tea. Then that's their choice too. Nick will continue to recruit his sheep to post on their page and tell them the same old 'Live is nothing without Ed' BS Blah bah blah

Ha Ha Ha !!!! What a crock of shit!

I've heard Ed say numerous times that he "wanted to go in a new direction" and that he was "moving on" to a new phase in his life. That he has never been happier.

Now he flips?

That email is a total PR statement trying to save face. Everything Ed has stated about the split to this point completely contradicts his email.

It will sound good to anyone who hasn't payed attention to what he's been saying the past few years.

Hoodie, I apologize.
