I found this interview on YouTube where Ed is interviewed prior to the release of The Distance to Here. In the past I have uploaded snippets of the interview but this seems to be the entire thing.

Ed talks about the recording process (50 songs written, 15 recorded, 13 made the album).

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing, but I'll try to post a summary of topics over the next few days...
