I take offense to the Dream Theater post. John Petrucci would implode your face with his Bear-like guitar powers.

Kids these days.

guys, i bet the kid meant, that the site sucks just like the DT site, not the band smile.gif

anyway. The point about social media is the correct one. Nowadays a website should either be overflooded with everything (check Lynyrd Skynyrd one) or simply be a so-called business card one with vids, pics, news and shop. Check rev theory for that matter.

I must also say that forums vanish the last years. Fansol is among the very few exceptions. It is only this, a Peugeot club for me and the huge Depeche Mode forum I admin.

There are spam messages being posted on the band's offical wesbite (and very little else is ever posted there). Doesn't anyone associated with the band pay any attention at all to that site? Does anyone associated with the website even give a sh*t?!?!

I am going to go on a rant. That website has been live for 5 months. There has not been one bit of content worth mentioning added to that site since the day it launched. Now there are nothing but spam messages, critics of the band, and someone complaining about having his copyrighted photos ripped off by the band. It is an embarrassment and the site makes me embarrassed to be a big fan of this band. Also, the band had an 8 month wait between putting a place-holder splash on the site and launching the site, and in the meantime, they had all of their fans go out and try to recruit everyone we know to sign up for the site. They promised special prizes for people with the most sign-ups. The site has been up for 5 months and there is NOTHING. It isn't even worth visiting that site. I am ashamed that I convinced my firends to go sign up. It's like inviting my friends to a party and when they show up, they find out that I am hosting it in a porta-potty.

I need to call this out because I think that what they are doing is wrong. They need to do better and someone needs to tell them.

Yeah it's a bit of a fail, Live are good when they make music, but they certainly aren't good at everything, this is def one of their downfalls and just because they make amazing music doesn't mean you can somehow defend this because the 2 are completely mutually exclusive. They should have put together a designated team to handling it if they wanted to do it seriously and maintain it, AT did a good job setting it up... But then what? He's got other things to do, it seems it's the puppy everyone wanted but now no one wants to look after it sad.gif

At least we got the 4 re-recorded tracks. I do agree though that the launch is a failure. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come although with their history I'm not holding my breath.

You need to put the offer out to the band and relay fish's sentiments and offer your services as a solution to the problem. Send chad a message on facebook and post the same message to the contacts at F4L. attach a link to a resume if you really want to make an impact that you are serious and not just some loopy fan trying to get closer to the band. ... although if this works you could be closer to the band which is something ANY of us would want.

What's more baffling is that they own Aurora Creative Group, which includes among its business offerings "Ad Campaigns, Print Design, Web Development and Branding". Aurora Creative Group is explicitly tied to the members of Live. So really? This is Live's website and launch campaign? This is the way they want to present a reflection of the band and indirectly their company that offers web design, branding and ad campaigns? The last entry under "News" on the front page of the website is a "Welcome" statement dated March 17, 2012. They claim to be passionate and solidly behind the future of Live, but the web presence suggests that they are "branding" the band as the band that doesn't give a sh*t. Why not put their best foot forward and showcase it as an example of what Aurora can do? Instead, Chad's brother Adam developed it in his spare time and the band hasn't ever paid any attention to it at all. Homespun, website, Churchbox Sessions, TGF promised tour. It's no wonder there are only a dozen of us left following this band around like abused shelter dogs. I'm just frustrated. When I saw the Dress Rehearsal Show in March, if you had told me that I would be sitting here after Labor Day with NOTHING more seize onto from this band I wouldn't have believed it. Sorry - I am just having one of those days where I need to vent.

I just desperately want what is best for this band and for the fans. I am passionate about Live. I have been a member of this message board since around the time it first launched and I will be until I die or they pull the plug on the internet. I want an official message board on the band's site that is usable and I want it to become active. I wanted the band to build momentum after the Dress Rehearsal Show and put some effort into fan appeasement by posting messages, following through on promises, offering fans participation in the activities, posting videos.

Is this new phase of Live going to be big? Or is it going to be a short-lived hobby of the band members? Is it something worth the effort to put their best foot forward and launch it the best way they know how, with everything they've got?

Cause as a fan, that's what I want from it. And Chad writes eloquent words, but I get disheartened when it doesn't seem like it is backed up by action.

Yesterday I listened to Throwing Copper in its entirety. And I mourned the loss of old Live. I mourned the loss of what was. And I teared up a little. I listened to Lightning Crashes when I would drive to and from the hospital when my mom died. And my daughter was born shortly after that. And Lightning Crashes reminds me of that experience. It is a powerful, emotional song for me because of that and those feelings it stirs. And I teared up a little.

So what's next for Live? Can I get a special feeling again from something new? I've been sold on it. I believed in it. But for Pete's sake, I want something more right now. I am not feeling appeased.

"Insiders" may feel appeased because they are in the know and see progress. But maybe it is tough for them to see it from the "Outsiders" perspective. We are just seeing tumbleweeds, and we come to this site everyday for months (and years) to have a circle-jerk.

Fish hits the nail on the head yet again.

I had hoped for (an expected really) an aggressive marketing or branding (re-branding) campaign even if it was just via the web and social media with a snippets and maybe some rehearsal footage to get people interested at the very least; especially with their resources at hand in Aurora.

But that never materialized for whatever reason (and I'm sure there was a good one).

It just seems that all the action and excitement happens in 6 month burst and then is allowed to die off until the next new idea.

It seems LIVE shoots themselves in the foot by missing good opportunities like these from time to time.

Anyway, nice rants Fish. I completely agree. The website experience feels like more of the heartbreak I felt when I'd be anticipating the release of the next album only to get... the release of the next album (talking about V, BOP, and SFBM here). Though I did love the 4 re-made tracks.

Strangely, it almost feels like an abusive relationship sometimes. There was the first love, then the bad times, but I come back. Then more dissapointment, then I come back - etc etc.

But maybe this time it's for real wink.gif

It feels like LIVE is not high on their agenda. They have an emotional attachment but that's about all I see at the moment. And I wonder if the Nashville trip was actually planned or just preempted by Ed's little email to the 'media'?

They need professionals in to do the other stuff because clearly they have no interest in it. Having a fan do it for nothing is the same as someone we all know doing kiss arse facebook pages for Ed.

We seem to be only ones genuinely interested in a LIVE comeback.

The more it goes on, I can't help thinking about what KM said in that interview.

I still LOVE them though tongue.gif
