Dan, I though someone gave you his word, he'd stop inciting and stay out of these threads? What gives?

I created the thread and I'm not trying to incite, I am telling you what I think. Look at your profile icon, that looks like you are trying to incite.

QUOTE(Pokey @ Aug 28 2012, 10:57 pm) *

You wouldn't half mind if he was passionate about the music, but he's been on record so many times saying how great Ed's band is, how great the show is, no Noticable drop offs etc... It just reeks of sadness. He just sees CCP as big dollar signs standing on stage with Ed. And he just wants a "reunion" tour? There doesn't need to be new music, just tour? That's just like Live saying "well we give up, nothing we make now would ever be any good" .. That's just sad.
Seriously Ed and CCP are just not a good fit anymore. CCP want balls to the wall rock, they want to bring it like they did in the 90s, TGF was proof of that. Ed doesn't want to do that anymore, he wants rivers and god's love and "shaking your money maker" etc... It's like putting a square peg in a round hole, the 2 parties just don't fit together anymore, so why try and force them?

Just fucking be a man and ACCEPT IT, Live is continuing without Ed. If you like Ed solo then you got him, but for god's sake, give it a rest.

You crazy

I'm not responding to him, I'm speaking out loud my general thoughts smile.gif

The Ed/CCP fit is just a point in general, I don't see why anyone would want them to reunite because they just don't suit each other's visions for what they want to do with music anymore. I don't understand why people want to force that, it'd be like me trying to force my parents back together because that's just what I want, failing to see they have changed so much that they are just not a good fit anymore. And then if Dad were to remarry and someone takes on his name, like Shinn taking on the Live name, yeah it might suck and need some adjusting, but I'm a grown man and you just learn to live with that shit, because like it or not, Dad and his new wife may be really good together and might be happy together. Mum may not like that and wants Dad back, but really, that just isn't going to work. Just like Ed coming back isn't going to work, Ed and CCP are no longer compatible. That was clear the first time we heard Honest Man and Grace.

So this is just to anyone that wants a reunion, I don't understand it, it's not a good thing.

Well , I guess this should not surprise me but I have to say, it does. I don't know who handles all of the PR for Ed but this sort of response was a mistake in my opinion. Not that I really care .... It comes off as desperate to say the very least and I think it makes him look more like fool than ever before. It 's like some sort of passive aggressive ploy so that he can say later that he tried to mend fences. Pathetic ...And one more disappointment for me when it comes to Ed.

In a perfect world , yes I would have loved to see the four original members of Live reunite granted that all four would collaborate on new music and all four would have equal parts in the decision making. However , that time has passed . I don't see a reunion happening , ever. Too much water under the bridge. Too much damage done. This goes way beyond what happened in the professional sense - it was personal and that is what most likely hurt CCP the most. I think that moving forward with the new incarnation of Live is the only choice considering the circumstances. Patiently waiting , I am smile.gif

It's his thread and he should be able to post in it and express his opinion. I have him ignored so I don't see his comments so there is nothing wrong with him. What I do have beef with is people like sinfuleyes who reply to him. I have to read his posts then. Stop stirring the pot Pokey and Sinful...

I dislike Nick's poorly crafted and delusion arguments as much as the next guy but he's not bothering me. You troll feeders are bothering me. Gain some damned will power, won't you?

I'm honestly not trying to engage him he, I'm no longer arguing with him directly, and I won't, my comments can be applied to the situation which has come up without Nick, in that Ed is trying to get back into Live, and anyone who thinks that is a good idea, cos I honestly think its a terrible one. My comments involve Nick as he is the main example of that type of person thats arguing that point, but im not replying to him, im not quoting him, he isnt addressing my posts specifically either. But ok fine, I won't talk anymore.

The only thing delusional on this board are the people think the majority of fans would prefer LIVE reform with Chris Shinn. I guess you may all find that out the hard way.

Fuck it, I will reply directly now, why not, most others are. The thing is many here don't really give a shit what "most" or "the majority" of Live "fans" would prefer, we just want what will bring the best music, and that is Shinn being part of Live because as I've said before, Ed and CCP do NOT fit together any more, they're just too different and their views on music are just too different. If Shinn with Live makes one album and then fall even further into obscurity and the band actually completely dies after that, you know, I'm fine with that because we at least get one more good album of music that way which we would not get with Ed at the helm. So really, who gives a fuck.
The majority of these "Fans" should not be catered to because they have no idea how the fuck anything works when it comes to bands making music, they only want what they know and feel safe with, completely closed off to the idea of change, by their logic they should probably want Miley Cyrus to front Iron Maiden because that's what they're suggesting with Ed coming back. Yes it WAS a major winning combination, but ... not anymore.

I think some people overestimate the possibilities for Live if they reunite. We're in 2012, they are not relevant since 2001. They can tour a bit on the east coast. in Netherlands and in Australia...ok, fine. Else than us on this board who really care about Live, a reunion tour and Ed's departure? Some won't even see the difference with Shinn fronting the band, and anyway they will be happy since they will see a singer that keeps his shirt ON, for Christ sake!!! uhoh.gif

In this era of one hit wonders, just hope a great record from CCCP and after we'll see. Even with the name LIVE, it will be hard to get noticed, as it was with TGF. But what we want at first is 4 guys happy to work TOGETHER delivering a great record. And now Chris Shinn is the singer of the band and I'm looking forward to hear what he can do!
