I hope and I think CCP have already seen that they don't NEED Ed to make music or be successful. I think KM showed them that and I can't wait to hear the new +Live+ record with Chris singing.

Kevin Martin said that CCP should get back with Ed. They may not need Ed, but he sure as hell would help them out a lot.

Yes they could. They did that with Kevin Martin and called it The Gracious Few. But if they want to continue under the name Live, they can do that. They control it. And they understand the difference between Live's sound and The Gracious Few's sound and any other sound. They dove back into the Live catalog and got that old feeling back again and desired to make music that sounds like Live, and it is their perogative to make music under the name Live. They believe in it enough that they think that Live fans will embrace the new music with Chris Shinn as a lead singer. It is wrong to pre-judge whether you like Live with Chris Shinn before you have even heard the album. Go read the lyrics that Ed wrote and which you love so much and then tell me if they lead you to pre-judge things and have a closed mind and bias when you encounter something new, and whether you should blindly follow what your leader tells you without thinking for yourself.

History dictates that reforming a band with a new lead singer, when the original lead singer is alive and willing to participate is rarely if ever successful.

Does a restaurant change their name if a chef or cook leaves? No. They get a new one and carry on. Just like Live is. Like I said, all of this talk is stupid. Ed left. Imagine you told your employer you were taking an extended leave from work. You didn't ask or negotiate it, you just said I'm leaving for a while. Then when your work (Live) tries to contact you to find out what's up, are you coming back, you ignore them. If that isn't quitting it's forfeiting and grounds for making it official. He's done. He's gone. CS is the singer. Perhaps some day down the road they can mend things and discover what brought them together as friends and band mates. I really doubt they make new music together ever again. Maybe they'll do a reunion show some day. In the meantime, CS is the singer. Ed is a solo act, formerly of Live. He can carry on just as that.

If they try to mend fences now, they can proceed as equals in LIVE. If a new version of LIVE tanks with Shinn, Ed now holds all the cards.

I'm just not looking at it that way. We're coming from two completely different places on this. It's not a matter of one or the other tanking, it's a forward-moving evolution. There are no cards to be had.

Moving forward with LIVE without Ed, will be a huge step backward for the band. They should at least try to meet and mend fences. If that fails, then all bets are off.

One of the weirdest things I read on LIVE in a very, very long time. (oke, at least since the day someone put down the lyrics of a new song called 'Forever' here and almost got several death threats for just ... well describing what she heard).
But, seriously now: W-T-F?

Ed is so unbelievable wrong. It's so unfair and so irritating. 'Those individuals', 'new direction' and it was only like a month ago when he (not literally but still) betrayed Gracey when talking about his new cool drummer.

And now this? Seriously? Really, never ever thought things would get this weird in LIVE land. It was such a 'normal' band for such a long time. But last few years have been all but predictable.

The weirdest thing of all is (like someone mentioned as well) that Ed refused to communicate in ANY WAY with them, and now that he changed his mind (don't believe it tho) respons via... the media? Really Ed, what happened with ya?

Btw, for all those getting worried about new LIVE and if things are going well: have faith. With TGF they took so long without really showing us anything but in the meantime telling it was so great. But we hardly heard anything. I remember clearly telling myself: this shit has to be really, really, REALLY f*cking great will it ever match our expections now. And we all now how it turned out. The shit was really, really, REALLY f*cking great. I think with this project it won'tr be any different and worth the waith.
