BUT - you know what else is dead right now? Live's public relations and promotion around the new album. I was thinking about it this morning. I follow Chris Shinn on Twitter. I hope and eagerly await some sort of comment from him about Live. The guy is the new lead singer of his favorite band and my favorite band - Live! He just recorded vocal tracks in the studio for a new album. You would think that he would be excited and he would try to get some promotion. And I'll be DAMNED if I haven't seen more tweets about his f*cking cats and about his friends' bands playing local clubs than I have seen him mention his own band Live, or the excitement over the vocal tracks, etc. Why doesn't he point that iPhone with the Instagram app in the direction of a Live band member every once in a while?!?! Now I admit that I am not on Facebook and maybe Chris Shinn is promoting the hell out of Live's new album being recorded for all the world to see - but I find it a little odd that he seems to be going out of his way to keep his supposed excitement and experiences with Live a big secret. What kind of way is this to get any momentum with the fans of Live? I am really frustrated with the apathy this band shows its fans. What is going on?!?!? I think the whole way that Live is handling its fans during this period is a little wierd.

This is a whole other discussion, but Live has ALWAYS been secretive about new material. Take the silence with a grain of salt, because they've always played things close to the vest. I'm surprised that we've gotten two clips already.

Fish has a point there. The band is silent in a period they should be screaming. They must be anxious to release their work. But we don't even know anything. Are they done? Did they really record the whole thing? It is annoying that we are still in uncertainty. I'm still positive, but it is long.

I agree to an extent, but if there isn't an album to promote yet then... there's nothing to promote.

The website, they need to fix, but the silence doesn't bother me because it isn't a new thing.

I watched that YouTube interview with Chris Shinn that was posted a few weeks ago. It was really great. And on it, he talked about the important role of social media and how important it is to address fans and include them, and how he personally responded to almost every email. He also Tweets the heck out of every activity in his life. I have seen his vacations, his dad's new pool, his early birthday celebration 120 pictures of his cats, his trip to an art museum, various random photos of objects taken with instagram, photos of his meals. You know what I have never seen? I've never seen a single tweet about him recording an album as the lead singer of multiplatinum, international, 20 million album selling, favorite rock band Live. That is not his style or his philosophy. So what is it? Did they sit him down and give him "the talk" where they tell him to never ever mention what Live is doing and to keep everything a secret from the fans? God forbid any fans know how great things are going? Or maybe things aren't going well? That was my theory a few months ago. Maybe silence means that things are complicated - not going as planned. Maybe the band is about to scrap the Chris Shinn experiment and get back with Ed, so they are radio silent. WTF is going on?!?!

Me too think something isn't going exactly as planned...maybe the fact that we talk about it will make them react...it happened in the past. The CS twitter thing makes me believe that he is not allowed to post about Live. But you can post about your excitement without spreading informations. No news is not always good news.

Couldn't help myself. I'd like to employ Pokey's analogy: you always try to swat the fly.

Not anymore, as much as I'd love to swat the fly, I have to believe the fly will in the end fly itself straight into one of those bug zapper things.

Yeah, I get that. Just dismaying to let poison freely seep throughout the forum, infecting the sometimes innocently ignorant, none-the-wiser newbies.

Listen, I know we're not hearing things public, but privately things are moving. I'd like to see a bit more come now.

What do you mean "things are moving"? Even the insider isn't THAT positive. Anyway we'll hear in due time.

Does the lawsuit slow them down according to you?

Ed's statement yesterday is doing exactly what he intended. Undermine Live's new music and turn it's loyal fan base.

We just have to believe that when the shit is ready we'll get it. I do wonder why Shinn never tweets anything about his new music, but all in good time I suppose.

I never thought I would get a new Live album/tour that I could be excited for so I'm just going to take it all in stride and anything from here on out is a bonus.

OTD - I respect you and I trust you completely when it comes to Live stuff, and I think you get it right about 100% of the time. Frankly, if it wasn't for your posts here and your assurances about what is happening in private, my level of freaking out would be 10 times what it is. But I don't think that as a fan, I should have to have faith in your posts on a message board in order wait patiently for something to happen after the announcement a year ago and the 2 shows in March. I don't agree with the approach they are taking from a music-business-management perspective and I don't think it is right for the fans. They don't have the luxury of a band at the peek of their popularity who can do things in secret and then spring it on a happy and awaiting massive fan base. With the Ed stuff, a new lead singer, coming off a series of mediocre albums, a skeptical and confused fan base and lack of market visibility, they need to be trying harder to make more waves, not protect a still pond.
