Jayda - I hear everything you're saying, but I disagree with a lot. I'm not saying Ed shows are literally 99% 45yr old women, but there's a lot. He would fit perfectly as a guest band on Ellen, The View or The Circle or whatever those shows are called. It just seems to be something that attracts that demographic as the bulk of his fans. Before I got rid of him on Facebook you would see it in replys, not everyone, but a lot coming from that demographic. They're the college chicks of early to mid 90s who rocke out to Live and now they are reliving their youth by "rocking" out with Ed, he's aged with them and his rocking has been toned way down, but it seems like he still likes to think of himself as part of a "full rock band" and the girls like to think they're going crazy on their 3 glasses of cheap wine ripping the town up and (music aside) its just an audience and atmosphere I wouldn't want to be apart of because I'm not "there yet". I never said anything is wrong with it, I was making observations and said that it's not my cup of tea, they're obviously having fun so more power to them. I just equiate it to an older version of the girls who scream at Beiber and One Direction, except these ones should know better. They're there to hear the 3 songs they know and squeal at the guy they loved in college. No thanks tongue.gif

I agree drunk moronic bogans at an AC/DC show are just as bad in their own way. Worse even.

I saw Seasick Steve earlier this year and both groups were represented and they even joined forces, it was horrible! There were these drunk young tradie looking guys constantly yelling "Steve-o!" at him and making red neck jokes in the thickest bogan accent not realising the irony that they are the Australian versions of the red necks they are making fun of. Then there were the 50yr old ladies infront of them who had one wine too many (3) and were giggling like school girls along with the boys and revelling in the fact that the guys were giving them attention (ie just talking to them) someone under 40 was talking to them, let's go crazy girls!! I just wanted to say "shut the fuck up and listen to the music!"

That's an extreme example and not like an Ed show I know, but these women were very much present at the Ed show. Especially when he got people to come stand at the front they all went up for a boogie. I am not picking on women in general, a very specific group, and I could have equally as nasty things to say about some guys too tongue.gif I just don't like people in general I guess tongue.gif I'm going to make one hell of a good old man one day sitting on my decking yelling at kids to get off my lawn!
I guess im just always overly observant like that, I over analyze and try to suss things out on a much deeper level then they really need to be!

You've already pegged yourself as a grumpy old man?! I think a nice girl will sweep you off your feet and you'll end up with a couple of annoying little kids yourself AND you'll mow the grass just for them to play on wink.gif

I have psychic powers...

After watching the new Ed clips, one of youtube's suggested clips was Live's woodstock 94 performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxiFniI_Iww&feature=fvwrel

I watched it and it made me hate that wolf that ate the original Ed even more than I previously did.

But seriously, though, I listened to his AOY from the same performance - and just watch how he hits (or doesn't hit) the vocals at the end.

Did he maybe have some physical problem that changed his voice?

Years of use and overuse will damage vocal chords. It happens to every singer at some point. Ed's voice from 2004-2006 was in real rough shape, but he has recovered in recent years.

I thought I started noticing that around 2000 with V, and the sound of his voice continued in that direction. When I look at more recent renditions of older songs, where he really used to let loose (like at the end of AOY or many parts of I Alone), the sounds come out high-pitched and soft.

So I thought maybe physically he's had some issues. He certainly did tear it up in the 90s.

I don't know specific issues, but I heard him struggle a bit 2004-2006.
