I can understand finding a few seconds of a demo clip dull ... but don't get the 80's-ish bit?

Me too. Only listened once, sounded 80's-ish.

And that's exactly what I thought !!

Short story. When Lakini's Juice came out on the radio I was floored by it... enamored with it. I thought some alien band from outer space had brought the song down from some magical musical planet or something. Then when the DJ said after the song finished that it was Live's no single I shat a solid gold brick (damn shame I lost that brick... I could use the money these days). It was instantly my favorite song, which was an incredible idea since Throwing Copper was full of bad assery.

Then I went and bought Secret Samadhi the day it came out. As I was listening to the songs, each song after the other, I grew more and more pissed off. "WTF is the rest of this boring ass shit!?" Lakini's Juice was so unlike any other song on the album, except for Unsheathed, that I actually felt ripped off. But the more I listened to the song I noticed that I started getting into the songs more. And more. And more. I got to the point of where I liked the album. Then I read the interview in Guitar player magazine and reading CT's and Ed's take on the album, the ideas behind the songs, the whole album clicked for me. I understood what they were going for. It's the first time I'd ever understood the concept of "doing something different" in terms of creating music.

I say all of that just to remind you not to judge a song too soon... especially a song you really haven't even heard yet.

I'm 200% with you. My judgement is based on the clip.
I'm not saying it's gold or shit. I'm just saying it sounds 80's-ish.

That's nothing but my personal feeling about it.

I listened to it three times. I hear INXS. So guess I agree with the 80s comment. But whatever. And I'm very intrigued and want more. And for the record, INXS rules.
