I think it is pretty simple. Ed started being a diva and CCP went along for the ride. But then Ed got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and CCP finally said that is enough. Instead of being a man Ed threw a hissy fit and figured he could go "solo" (play Live songs) and just wait until CCP begged him to come back because, after all, he thought he was Live.

When CCP brought in Shinn it threw a giant wrench into Ed's plans. He saw TGF coming but he never saw Shinn joining Live. Then the lawsuit came and really scared Ed shitless because he knows that his new songs are trash and without being able to use the name Live he would fade into lounge act oblivion IF he was lucky.

Faced with all that he is starting to backtrack.

I'd rather pay to see this than Live w/ Ed.

QUOTE

In the ’90s, while working a crummy job in a bleak Midwestern town with little to offer other than a mall, the Live song “Sh*t Towne” provided me a cathartic release.

Like Springsteen’s pleading lyrics “We gotta get out while we’re young,” it channeled a desperate desire to be somewhere — anywhere —else. Yet its own lyrics— “gotta live in sh*t towne”— reminded me that I had to stick it out where I was, at least until I got out of my own sh*t towne.

“I’d say that song is most everybody’s story about growing up in a small town,” said Ed Kowalczyk, the lead singer of Live, who penned the song while living in York, Pa. “Especially if you combine that with the angst of wanting to get out of wherever you were born. Then you compound that with the fact that, you know, York, Pennsylvania, was hardly the hotbed of culture and music that I would have dreamt of. So you throw that together and write a song about it and — there you go — a lot of people can relate to it throughout the country.”

Luckily for Kowalczyk, he managed to escape (as I did) to the California coast. But the Ojai resident does occasionally get back to the York area to visit friends and family, and to perform.

“It still sucks,” said Kowalczyk, who performs as a solo act at the Mid- State Fair on Saturday

And I think those bolded quotes won't sit well with CC&P as they've re-connected with their SEPA roots to do humanitarian things for the economy and bring so desparetly needed jobs to the York, Reading and Lancaster areas. Ed still hates York. Chad and Pat call it home base, Gracey being in CA, is back home quite often. Ed feels put off by his birthplace, from the bolded quote. I guess his past diatribes that he's softened on York are all BS too.

How would Ed ever want to come home and write and record in the new Spot studio? I don't see it, not for someone who is the antethesis of what he was.

It's one thing to talk shit on your home town if you are still there. It's another to talk shit on it after you've been gone for so long. He doesn't deserve to say that he's from York. Sure it has its problems, but there are some great local establishments in York that don't get the credit they deserve. Good to see the other 3 guys have not given up on York, and are bringing some good back into town.

Ed isn't LIVE. He is touring as Ed Kowalczyk of LIVE. Any lead singer touring without his band or (without his band name) doesn't draw as well as he did with the band. Do you honestly think LIVE will draw as well without Ed in the long term?

Do you honestly think the Live fans will buy the music if he is writing it? Nope. See the last 2 Live albums.

You fail to remember to us real Live fans that's all that matters.

Great point. Those statements about York really stuck out for me and frankly offended me. He says it sucks. Meanwhile, CCP are putting their heart and should and money into the area that they believe in.

No pun intended here, but what kind of man shits all over their home town? It's this diva, "I am greater than everyone" mentality that has put Ed in the position he's in.

Until he figures out that it's not all about him, CCP will definitely not welcome him back into Live. I think that's pretty clear by now and I'm still perplexed as to how Nick doesn't get this.

There is a simple equation for all of this .....

Ed = asshole = nick

You actually don't know the exact quotes in any statement of the article. To take any of it as basis of fact is ridiculously short sighted. I posted the article because it would start discussion, but I don't attest for its accuracy.
