Here is a PDF link to the claims CCP are making against Ed re: his use of "Live". 16 pages of it.
http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/medi...20(4736288).PDF

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like they don't want Ed to reference "Live" in his promotion at all.
ie. he can't even say "Ed Kowalczyk former Live frontman".

What's also interesting is that according to the document Ed was kicked out of Live in late 2009. This was early on in the hiatus period.

Don't get what's wrong with ''Former Live frontman''.

Ed is so bad and so damaging to the brand of Live that CCP don't want him anywhere near it.

It's possible they could prevent him from using the Live trademark. He has no legal ownership of it. Even though it says former, the Live trademark is still being used to promote his shows. Otherwise he wouldn't need to use it at all. It would be pretty ironic if he had to license it to use it.

And I bet he would because he has already proven he thinks he can't make it on just his name alone.

ED KOWALCZYK formerly OF LIVE

That's the principle behind Ed using the name Live, even if the font of all the letters were the same size. "Formerly of" is nothing but a back door into continuing to use the name Live to promote your own career. It's a semantic difference.

Look at it this way. What if EK got some success and fame from his tour. How kindly do you think he'd take to one of his touring musicians or the guys he uses to record his albums using his name to prop up their project? "Formerly of Ed Kowalczyk". Stupid example, yes, but you get my point.

Especialy if said musician signed secret contracts and demanded a "musician bonus" and screwed Ed over and disrespected him in about 30 other different ways.

Doubt Ed would want him to make money off his name.

Those are nicely written papers. Ed looks like he's pretty screwed! Paragraph #55 is my favorite!

It does though. Obviously the debate largely surrounds the language "of Live." So with just the slightest sense of humor you can make sense out of it.

We discussed it a year or so ago about Ramy, who could demand "the lead drummer bonus" and tour as Ramy, formerly of The Koqalczyks

Gee a sense of humour is the one thing I've been missing around, I'm always so super serious about everything!!

I understand perfectly well what you meant by it, If it made sense it would be funnier, but it fell flat smile.gif
