I'm sure the age thing probably was a slip up, but as I said you'd understand it more if he wasn't so specific about having written it in high school gym class before.
But I don't really care about that.

The point Fish made was much more interesting, and with the slippery Eddie K we've gotten to know over the past few years the sad thing is I can see that being true.

I didn't even think about questioning it when I first read the post. Like Dan said, I thought it was pretty cool when I checked out facebook this morning on my phone. When I got on the computer to work I took another look so I could see what he wrote, what he had crossed out, you know revel in the intimacy of the photo of something connected to one of my fav songs from MJ.

Then a few things didn't add up. Nothing was scratched out apart from some poor handwriting that looked like it was re written so he could read it from back a bit perhaps - for a show? So I reread his comment...he doesn't actually say that it's the original writing of the song. He says " I was 19 when I wrote this"...'this' could be referring to the actual song or 'this' could be the piece of writing he'd photographed and posted. And then I wondered was he bringing this up to prove a point? Sorry I don't have the faith in him to give him the benefit of the doubt. He has shown a side of himself that would point to him having a hidden agenda in making that post.

And then I read the comments on here posted later and saw I wasn't the only suspicious one

The song has been in my head ALL.DAY.LONG since I read the post this morning. So that was a good thing to come out of it.

I can only hope I'm wrong in my suspicions and that when the words come to him it flows so freely that he gets it right the first time and that he really was going thru stuff and found this and posted it in all innocence to share the thrill. And that yeah, he just fucked up on the age bit

So he could have been wrong the first time he reckons he was 17 and in gym class when he wrote it....

option 1. he did get kept back a year or two in high school;

option 2. he wasn't in gym class when he wrote it because I believe 19yo's would normally not have a gym class.

Either way he lied.

Look. You have been roaming around your basement, when suddenly you find a pic of you and your, say, girlfriend, in your teens.

You look at it and think: wow. I was 17 back then!

You take that pic to your friends and show it to them and say: guys, look, I am 17 here! And they reply: No, hypocrite, you are 27, how could you have forgotten that!
Like, you know, I really do not give a damn. You know my thoughts and feelings about Ed. It can really be this way: he took some piece of paper, wrote it all down yesterday and then take a pic and post it on FB with those comments. SO? So what? If it is so, he is the biggest douchebag in the world. If not, it is only a cool find. I prefer to think about the latter (knowing I shall not trust anybody, especially Ed).

BTW I also had to leave a comment to that pic. Dunno if it had been deleted and if I was banned down there. Lemme check

Please let me clarify what I am thinking and what I was trying to say, because I don't think that I was being overly negative. In fact, I think I am giving Ed the benefit of the doubt on a lot of points that have been raised in this thread and disagreeing with some of my colleagues here.

I am not saying that Ed manufactured the note this week. That thought never occured to me until it was raised here.

I am not saying that Ed intentionally lied about when he wrote the song. What would he have to gain by lying about that? He could have just said that he wrote it at the same time that he said he wrote on a previous occasion. I think it is more likely that he does not have a crystal clear memory of the exact date when the song was written. Although this song is important to many of us, it is one of many songs that Ed wrote and he did it a long time ago when he was very young. I think people are jumping on this because of the situtation that arose with him claims about when Overcome was written. That seemed like an intentional lie and it didn't involve an event that happened a long time before the lie was told. So I think people are quick to assume that this is a lie too.

I can give Ed the benefit of the doubt that this is a photo of the actual original hand-written lyrics to the song. I think that is a really cool artifact. I also give Ed the benefit of the doubt that he is rusty on the exact date it was written.

All I am saying is that it is a bit dubious that Ed just happened to randomly find that this week and he decided to post a photo of it. I don't think it is a coincidence that he is showing off his Live credentials to the fans during the week after the lawsuit was filed. I think the timing of him presenting this is suspicious. I think he may be presenting this as PR.

What I am saying is that Ed has made me cynical about his actions and that I do not believe the part about how he just found it. Then again - I just re-read the post and he doesn't actually say that he just found it. What he said was "You never know what you'll find going through storage :-)" So he is inferring that he just randomly found it, but he doesn't actually say that. He leads you to believe that is what happened, but he didn't actually say that he just uncovered it from storage. Maybe I should be criticizing him for carefully choosing his words to suggest something, but not technically lie. Perhaps he just stores this piece of paper in staorage and he got it out to take a picture of it and post it on Facebook for PR and say "You never know what you'll find in storage" when he actually knew exactly what he would find in staorage because that's where he STORES IT. Do you see what I mean? Maybe he is playing with words, like he did with the way he presented himself as "of Live".
